Nobel Peace Prize Winner Rotblat Dies

By MATT MOORE
The Associated Press
Thursday, September 1, 2005; 1:33 PM

LONDON -- Joseph Rotblat, who was the only scientist to
resign from the Manhattan Project and later received the
Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to rid the world of atomic
weapons, has died at the age of 96, his spokesman said
Thursday.

Rotblat and the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World
Affairs, the group he founded to promote nuclear
disarmament, received the prestigious prize in 1995.

Rotblat, who was born in Warsaw and became a British citizen
in 1946, died peacefully in his sleep in London on Wednesday
night, the group said.

Yeah, yeah he was 96, so it's hardly a shock.

Didn't someone else get a nobel peace prize for the creation
of the nuclear bomb in the first place (on the grounds that
it would stop ground wars on the scale of ww2 from happening
again)?

i guess you're getting confused, how can someone "get a
nobel peace prize for the creation of the nuclear
bomb"
???

does the nuclear bomb brought peace and calm to our twisted
minds?

DON'T THINK SO...

Rotblat ans his group received the noble prize for their
efforts on NUCLEAR DISARMAMENT... not for creating the
nuclear bomb, which does not bring peace...

It's hard to say. Maybe the US and the USSR would engaged in
a conventional war during the 20th century without the bomb
to keep a balance of power. My old history teacher was
interested in this theory.

They're not gonna use it. They'll be a capitalist democracy
in 20 years anyway. It's inevitable.
