we are not made of fucking money. what are they going to do?
increase the shit out of our taxes? YOUR NORMAL 9 to 5er
doesnt need that.

Your normal 5 day/week 40 hours/week guy can barely make
ends meet.

"ZOMGMG HAVE THE GOVERNMENTS PRINT MORE MONEY BILLS AND BUY
POWERUPS"

the double 'mgmg' displays an echo effect since cool edit
doesnt work on text.

I just cant take this anti american shit anymore. Have some
fucking respect for the citizens on this board that cant do
a damn thing about it.

I have seen this kind of shit for too long here. Its fucking
rediculous.

No- what the majority of the members of xlt don't understand
is finance. Money is a relative term. There are parts of
alabama that look like Bangladesh after a peak monsoon and
it happened overnight.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the war- this is
almost as random as the tsunami.

To me the real problem is not wether we can respond to this
disaster, but how. If we rebuild New Orleans on the same
ground it will be like pissing into the wind.

That sounded kind of cold and dickish coming after
Virginpusher's comment. I guess I'm just trying to say that
a country as rich as the Us should plan ahead a bit more for
disasters rather than spending any excess money on something
that a great deal of citizens opposed, and screwing itself
over when it really needs the money to protect its citizens.

This i can agree with. We shouldnt rebuild because chances
are its just gonna happen again. It would be a waste of all
the cash it would take.

Disasters, education, worrying about our own poor.

Seriously all our govt cares about is foreign affairs. The
whole time the general populous declines education wise and
suffers overall.

It sucks because this wasnt what our founding fathers had in
mind.

*sigh*

I just dont care anymore about any of this. everyone is
pissing this world away.

-----------------------------------------

Sorry for getting short in this thread. It is
uncharacteristic of me. I am struggling with a lot of
tension over here and i didnt mean to take out my internal
agressions like that. It was not very mature of me. Sorry.

Regards,
Brian

what you said the other day, about there being a lot of
tension in the world, i was thinking about this earlier and
it just reminds me of history class, learning about the two
'great' wars, stalinism, the cold war, etc...

has the world always been this way?

Let the first country with the perfect government cast the
first stone.....

Really if you want to know what pisses me off the most about
Dub-ya's response to this whole thing, its his total lack of
concrete action. Its just like 9-11. He's gonna sit back
and let the tragedy unfolld and let everyone else make the
tough decisions.

I wouldn't be suprised if in 3 months he decides to invade
Canada just to distract the American public from the fact
that it now costs us $100 to fill up our SUV's.

Don't judge the poor folks of Alabama and New Orleans
marinating in their own effluvia .

donate

Did he?
I hadn't noticed. I like him better 'down on the ranch'-
He's farther away from the button.

HAVE THE GOVERNMENTS PRINT MORE MONEY BILLS AND BUY

I agree that the Us shouldn't just pull money out of thin
air and screw itself economically, but the Iraq war kind of
depended on such a thing. It's not like the Us had a
special 'rainy day war fund' (at least I hope not) and spent
it all, and now there's only a few cents left to save its
citizens. I wish that the Us would gauge its money and be
able to defend itself, but when a horrible thing happens and
the country does need help, I'd like to think that the rest
of the world would want to. But the rest of the world would
want the Us to do the same, which seems considerably less
possible if the country can't solve its own horrible
problems even with their relative wealthiness. Also, there
are plenty of people dying from starvation daily, and that
is a preventable thing, not a natural disaster. I'm not
trying to downplay what has happened in the Us, I'm just
trying to point out that wealthy nations seem to close often
their eyes to human suffering unless it's something loud and
tangible that caused it.

its like a case of "guilt based on association" or
something. I seriously need a drink.

I really admire Americans who, seeing hundreds of unfair
comments against their folk on messageboards, even filled
with decent people like this one, retain patience and don't
burst into cursing and rants. People can be really
chauvinistic if it concerns Americans and noone will say a
word.

I dislike the majority of my compatriots, but I don't think
I could stand reading how fat, stupid or gun-loving they are
everyday. Especially if this were the words of people I was
supposed to like.

So, Virginpusher, don't feel bad. Your feelings are
understandable. Though in this partticular thread there was
no "God, Americans are so stupid" comment. Maybe because
several thousands of them just died.

the thing that pisses me off about it is that, yes indeed,
this has been a tragedy, 100s dead, etc.

but they knew it was coming! for years, people have known if
new orleans was hit with a hurricane class 4 or 5 theyd be
fucked, yet they did nothing to prevent it. and those
people, who died, its sad, but they deserved it! people were
ordered well in advance to evacuate, yet they just decided
to sit around and thought they could wait it out.yerg.
