Strange Fortune's "Gem of the Month" for may 2005... this
seems to be pretty awesome. i think some of you will be
interested in it, i'm especially thinking of tolstoyed who
made me discover Akira Rabelais among other things... : )

Strange Fortune's description:
"Unique ethereal avant ritual folk with female vocals,
not to be missed by anyone interested in music of strange &
exquisite beauty."

http://www.obuh.serpent.pl/ksiezyc.html
^ a page about it, it's in polish so i don't understand
anything but there are sound samples (for lazy people:
1 12 14).

http://strangefortune.com/cd.php?id=2517
^ strange fortune's page about the cd, where you can order
(limited to 500 handprinted copies...), send and read
reviews and stuff.

(the name is actually "Księżyc", by the way, but
those accentued letters would probably have turned into
"Ksi??yc" in the title.)

For criminals - my slsk share. You can find Ksiezyc's
self-titled LP there and 6 other tracks. Just remind me to
add you to my list. The nick is the same as here.

I'm usind the new test version so I'm not reachable through
the standard server.

The new search engine is great, very robust. You no longer
get the feeling of non-determinism.

Perhaps, if you like ethereal minimalistic folk. It's not
for tough engineers.

This is occasionally really awesome, seriously. That
clavichord/harpsichord or whatever it is gets kind of
annoying on a couple tracks but the voicescapes are great,
very dreamy stuff. I've only listened once though.

And what's with Verlaine 1 and 2... as in Tom?

offline QRDL from Poland on 2005-08-29 10:46 [#01709227]

The rather simplistic riffs of harpsichord do annoy me too
after long listening, for example I hate "Klawesynowa". But
I can get over it.

As for Verlaine, I believe it's a tribute to Paul Verlaine,
the French poet. The lyrics to the first part have Verlaine
sitting in a cafe and watching/dreaming about Queen of
diamonds travelling in a stagecoach through Montmartre. He
would like to run out and help her to get out of the
vehicle, but his violin box is in the way....bam! return to
reality... his lover with fat tits is stuffing her mouth
with a black gut (suposedly a sausage). Something like
that.

I'm not familiar with Verlaine's poetry to be honest, but
this Montmartre stuff fits his bio on Wikipedia quite well.
