why snares?: meathole is a good argument

"AHAHAH -- Snares just using the Amen Break ? Sheesh, that's
ridiculous - his beats are miracles of dedicated programming
and his atmospheres are superbly welded globs of
dark-matter... Snares haters don't actually LISTEN to his
music, they just skim the surface and dismiss it like
chart-listening hussies"

Get "Breaks" though both are amazing. I have to confess
his current live show has moved far beyond each album. His
next should be a gem for sure.

I've just downloaded "Breaks". I must say I am very
satisfied. Much better than "Great Rubber Audio" if you ask
me.

Whoa gl0tch you mentioned me before otto and richard divine!
Thanks I feel special : )

As of right now I think most of the hate is jealousy. If it
weren't there would be a why frank zappa, or a why mike
patton post.

I`ve talked to Arron a number of times and he is a really
nice guy, a lot nicer then other producers I have met. I`ve
seen him do some awesome stuff for fans (like replace their
stolen cds and swag etc etc ). What he is doing for music is
fantastic, everything, and I mean EVERYTHING sucks now.

Post rock punk gap top 40 old navy deep house ipod g4
ambient ``Brian eno is amazing`` retro shirt 80`s rivival
nine inch nails sound like queens of the stone age avant
garde I AM DIFFERENT LOOK AT MY CD COLLECTION I respect the
scene zine raising awareness for cause X cool to hate
everything etc etc etc

It`s all so booooring!

I think (as cheesy as this is going to sound) that this
branch of electronic music is what punk rock was THEN but
with out all the image. ANYONE can make this music (the
software is free!), some better then others, it is raw and
aggressive, actually DANGEROUS SOUNDING, and has a sense of
humor to it. You can organize your own shows for cheap, it`s
just all so fucking fun meng!

I think that WAIT A WHILE stuff is so cliche. Everyone does
that now. It is such a cop out, to make people think you are
really more great then what you are. Everyone is doing it
these days, it`s pathetic! "LOOK I AM BACK AND BETTER THEN
EVER. I WAS AWAY SLAYING DRAGONS AND FEEDING CHILDREN IN
SAMLIA WHILE MAKING MY NEW RECORD. I AM SO GREAT BY VIRTUE
OF MY MYSTERIOUS ABSENCE. WOW I AM SO FUCKING DIFFERENT JUST
LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE."

On the other hand, IDM guys that release an album once a
week bore the shit out of me. WOW YOU PUT A TON OF REVERB ON
SOME RETRO SYNTH AND SAMPLES OF KIDS PLAYING ON A SWING SET
IN THE BACKGROUND.

I totally don`t think Funk releasing music every few months
is bad at all. It is always good and up to par. As long as
It`s fucking crazy, release an album ever sec

As for the Amen break, and I wrote that on watmm, the idea
that he uses it all the time is fucking bollocks. There's a
GAZILLION beats per album, and there's like perhaps 5% of
them which are related to the Amen. Really, put on your
headphones, and do the trick. Try to estimate the % of the
time you even hear something remotely related to the Amen
break. There's so fucking more than this, all the time,
non-stop.

my particular color of sound has become something else. the
ambivalence i feel towards VS that i know has now become
something completely different.

Heh... has anybody overlooked that HCCBE, his best album
(the only one I bothered to spend my hard earned money on)
is a simple autechre knockoff? Its a good album, but it
doesn't indicate any more artistic development than that he
is able to rip off other IDM icons just as well as he is
able to shuffle different beats around in the same midi file
album after album.

hmmm, well I prefer Vsnares to a lot of that list. In fact
off the top of your head, those are (mostly) surprisingly
underwhelming to me compared with Vsnares, especially after
you built up your superior substitues earlier in this
thread. I'm not trying to be funny or tell you you're wrong
here, but you tend to write things as if what you say is be
all and end all, rather than in your own opinion.
