They've done some cool stuff in their time...you can't really go wrong with anything they've released...(Well, as long as you like sample based stuff & love spotting sources etc.) When it comes to Breaks, there aren't many people who know more than this duo....
Anyone ever heard some of the stuff they did with Steinski?...(He was like the originator of that cutup collage thing)
And the Mixmaster Morris Remix of Coldcuts "Autumn Leaves" is possibly one of the beautiful tracks ever heard.....A spring dawn captured on CD...
(I'm off to SoulSeek to track down some Steinski....mmmmmmmmmmmm).. :)

Jonsey: That album is seminal. There is all kinds of stuff from dub through to Hawtin. I think I kind of have an idea of your taste and you would like it.
JAND: Lessons 123...fucking amazing shit. Have you heard"hey kinds"?

I fuckin love Coldcut!
I saw them play at Newcastle Uni about 3 years ago - totally, totally class. The VJing was outstanding. To be honest, no live show I've been to since has really been fully enjoyable because I've always felt as though something was missing - VJs!
The Journeys by DJ album is absolutely class - a really fucking good and eclectic mix. Definitely buy it.
And my favourite hip-hop tune ever: Eric B and Rakim's Paid in Full (Coldcut remix) - download it now!
I've wanted to know for a while now: in More Beats and Pieces, there's a bit in it somewhere where there's this sample of a bird making a squawking sound (it's a cuckoo in a cuckoo clock in the video), and the melody kind of metamorphoses into a synth line. I'm sure the melody is sampled on an old hiphop tune. A very similar line is used in KRS One's Step Into a World, but I'm sure it's from something much older.
What is it?
In fact, this has bothered me for so long that I'm going to have to start a new thread about it.

Weird one that. They did YAzz and stuff even after they had underground success. I think they must have seen the dollar bills. Then they got burned and have had a really anti big label ethos ever since.

Quernstone: Is the Funky Penguin the name of an actual track then, and if so who's it by?
Yeah man, the Yazz stuff was pretty dire. Mind you, People Move On wasn't too bad. Come to think of it, neither was Doctorin' the House. Quite good.

Well, to be honest, as far as pop girl-groups and stuff go, they're not THAT bad really, are they? They're better than the Spice Girls.
And they're certainly better than Greece's entry into Eurovision - so bad it was the funniest thing I've seen/heard in ages. Go to www.eurovision.tv and then to "Contestants" to check it out.
