He's not an electronic artist (though his music has the
occassional drum machine) but his album Andrew Bird and
the Mysterious Production of Eggs
has grown to be one of
my favourites. I didn't like it right away but it is a
definite grower. The guy is a madman on the violin with
flawless pizzicatto and weird gypsy-like strums, and the
songwriting is top notch popish/nostalgic
rock/folkish/something or other, if you like that sort of
thing. He nearly all the instruments on that album, which
makes it more impressive. This probably isn't the sort of
thing that most here listen to, but I would bet that a few
would really enjoy it, so give it a download/buy or
whatever. And I hope someone doesn't barge into this thread
and say something like 'Oh, it's just another one of those
pitchfork acts.' That'll annoy me.
Any thoughts?

you were doing so well.. and then you mentioned pitchfork..
effectively smearing shit all over your own thread!

Yeah, I heard it on the radio and liked it, then I
eventually heard that he played at that pitchfork-fest or
whatever. But his live show sounds impressive 'cause it's
just him and his drummer, and he uses a sampler device to
loop bits of violin playing and jams over it with guitar,
violin, etc.. changing the songs every night.

I suppose I smeared more shit on my thread by saying I heard
it on the radio. It was on this weird ass public radio
station that plays good music occasionally. I've heard them
play a silver mt. zion, otto von schirach, chris clark, and
some several-hour long squarepusher marithon.
