From what I've heard, methinks I like them better then
Aphex Twin, and Autechre and all them... but maybe it's just
the Geogaddi hype... either way, they're awesome, and I'm
listening to Music has the Right and am loving it, and I
can't wait to get Geogaddi... it's here in the store, I just
need the money... :)

MHTRTC is brilliant man... I love it all the way through...
people say they aren't innovative, and well who cares, their
music is so emotional, and relaxing, and beautiful... plus,
I think it's pretty unique... I've never heard anything like
this album... totally awesome...

A Beautiful Place in the Country is awesome as well, and
from what I've heard from it so is High Scores... they just
need to release more music... what was it, like 4 years
between MHTRTC and Geogaddi? Anyways, I love them...

Warp got the rights to BoC Maxima and Twoism, you can see
those gems out soon.

I want everything BoC... you ever notice how MHTRTC seems
totally distant... whereas some music envelopes you, this
one seems very distant... very nice stuff indeed...

They're not very eclectic... if you've heard MHTRTC, nothing
on Geogaddi makes any signifigant strides... I like it when
artists go crazy and reinvent themselves, but BOC is pretty
static. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, I guess that CAN be
a good plan.

I'm gonna give that and MHTRTC a good spin tomorrow, drink
some ether give it a chance

yeah that's true... but I don't like BoC for their total
innovativeness... I like them cause their music is very,
umm, beautiful, relaxing, laid back, etc, etc... so while I
don't want them to release the exact same record again, I
don't want them to change TOO much... whereas with a group
like Autechre, I've come to expect total innovation and
shit... it just depends for me... I love BoC's style...

CRUSHING Geogaddi... I fear Autechre...

one thing I like about MHTRTC is the way some of the songs
at the end just break away from the previous theme and
you're flooded with melody... like the ending of Aquarius,
An Eagle in Your Mind, and Happy Cycling..

offline Taoist Blockade from Wales on 2002-02-23 01:51 [#00097924]

Well they sure have their work cut out for them. BoC is the
only "electronic" group who I would say makes "songs" adn
not "tracks." I would love it it Autechre put out something
to rival geogaddi though. Man, BoC had better start getting
more prolific in their releases.

No more teeth, made it seem like I was screaming at you all
in my posts.

Yeah, MHTRTC is awesome, such great melodies... I STILL
think ROYGBIV is by far their best track, nothing even comes
close to that.

yup, Roygbiv is awesome... however my fav right now is An
Eagle in Your Mind, and Pete Standing Alone... beautiful
songs...

heh, I can never manage to pick one favorite...

here's the Amazon.com review of Geogaddi...

Geogaddi, like Boards of Canada's 1998 debut album, Music
Has the Right to Children, drifts its way into
consciousness, rolling a fog of dark-hued psychedelia over
slow-burning, lullaby melodies. Having led a reclusive
existence in their Hexagon Sun studio, shunning interviews
and live shows in an effort to escape the shrill, loud
praise that accompanied Children's release, the enigmatic
Scottish duo has stayed focused, creating another tour de
force in the process. Geogaddi opens with no fanfare, with
the bare hum of "Ready Lets Go" blossoming into the
soporific, hypnotic chimes of "Music Is Math". But for the
next 65 minutes, it's clear that while BOC move slow, they
do so with the power of shifting glaciers. All their old
influences--the noise-as-melody drone of My Bloody
Valentine, the brave futuristic synths of Neu!--remain, but
more than anything, Geogaddi is about the vivid sense of
warm melancholy that lingers when the music fades out. It's
another slow-burner, but Geogaddi is as utterly essential as
its predecessor. --Louis Pattison

I don't understand why everyone thinks Geogaddi isn't a step
ahead of MHTRTC. I mean, the technology sounds similar, but
the emotion is so much more intense. They've gone so much
further. Like somebody said, Music Has was like a 10 and
Geo is like 11.5, except I'd give it a 15. I absolutely
love Music Has, but Geo is like a true gift. I could die
happy now that I've experienced Geogaddi.

Oh yeah, this appreciation of Geogaddi that I have is new as
of tonight; I think the fourth time I listened all the way
through.

If there was ever a way to "perfect" MHTRTC...BOC were the
only ones who could...And THEY DID IT with Geogaddi

Long Live BOC!!!
