Why: because I am sick of computers and it can sequence up to 32 midi instruments at once.
How: By turning it on, loading sample banks, then hitting record and then pressing pads.

Honestly, I can't really see a conversation about sequencers going very far, unless some of those max nuts show up and start showing off their programming skills with some whack invention that tells midi compliant toasters to take over the world.

ive been using cubase sx3 (used to be on sx2 ).. but its giving me some problems, i think thats my audigy soundcard though. Just ordered the m-audio 2496 soundcard..hopefully that will improve it.
i've used in the past; live 4 fruity loops
both disliked. i've yet to come accross one i enjoy using.

I was using cubase sx2 for a while, and its buggy as hell on my audigy zs platinum. I will never buy another creative product again, as long as I live. I could have spent 100 dollars less and gotten something that does a whole lot more

Yeah. Well, I could run my audio thru my xstation, but I don't like the idea of using a usb audio processor. It just strikes me as being a bit slow...

Once again, I am never going to buy another creative product as long as I live. That also filters out the m-audio gear, since they are owned by creative.

Hmmm. I just read in a couple places today about creatives buyout of m-audio, and I can't seem to find it. I guess I misremembered.

I use Cubase vst 5.1. I hate SX to be honest. The old Cubase does what I need it to, and it's fairly reliable.

cygnus, did you name yourself after the constellation?
also, i have an old yamaha rx-11 drum machine. works pretty well if you want to make fast stuff. the samples are kind of weak, but you can use midi to trigger other devices with better sounds
