Can anyone suggest a really good sound card that will allow me to hook up my electric guitar to it? Thanks.

the soundblaster live lets you record and play at the same time, plus it has realtime effects like distortion

here's what you can do without spending to much money,...
buy another gitaur cable buy a large-cable-input-to-small cable input adaption plug the new gitaur cord into the output on your amp,.. and adapt the other end of the output cable to fit the microphone port
a few diagrams to avoid confusion
|gitaur| /\ || II II II O = = | | | | | = = O II II II || \/ input on amp ______ |####| |-------| |_____| /\ || II II II O = = | | | | = = O II II II || \/ adapter II II | . microphone port

It won't blow up your computer and It won't sound like shit,.. It's simply plugging in the amp directly,.. I've done it plenty of times myself,.. but most people don't think to convert the output signal into input,.. which was what I was demonstrating,.. sorry if I somehow blew up your computer,.. you must've done something wrong :-)
