mind is a terrible thing to taste is good, also dark side of
the spoon, basically all ministry is very good, but their
first two albums are very different - think the cure / early
new order style, no shitting

they started out poppy and went industrial, usually a band
will do the opposite of this, they will start out hard, and
end it soft, not the ministry boys

What the fuck are you people going on about? It was always
hardcore. It might be poppy by todays standards, but at the
time the earlier stuff was very synth baised, but they were
singing about murder. And I think people need to listen to
some more classic ministry. Dark side of the spoon and
anything after is total shit. The land of rape and honey and
the mind is a terrible thing to taste and in case you didn't
feel like showing up (live) and psalm 69 and twitch and
filth pig are really good albums. If I see one more person
dropping names of some burnt out artists crap shit albums
like drukqs and dark side of the spoon and the division
bell, I am going to have to resort some serious troll action
in order to deal with it.

so ministry didnt get heavier over the coarse of their
career? they didnt start out as a synpop group (musically)
then delve into industrial? and dark side of the spoon is a
good album.

ive never heard animos....or whatever so i cant comment, ps
you sound personally insulted? are you in ministry or
something.

I really like their electronic mix of O Fortuna in that
political song that they realed a while back (I think it was
called No W. but can't remember to be sure)

Animosity was a great track as well - good use of synths -
but I've only heard those two off compilations, never heard
any of their albums. Are they worth checking out?

they started out lighter than new order, more like a cheesy
book of love/early depeche mode synth-pop outfit, with goofy
new wave costumes. they were a duo then, only alain
jourgensen remains from the early incarnation. their sole
album was called "with sympathy," and it's remarkably
terrible. granted, they did a few early experimental 12"'s,
"cold life," for example.

Good in the day. Surprising how quaint and downright boring
some of the stompers sound these days.

Wow plaidzebra, "with sympathy" is an album that should
remain in the vaults and never be heard..It's way bad, thank
god Alain J started experimenting with electronic/industrial
and be what they're now...I have all Ministry and really
love 'em..Saw them on their 1992 and still love
'em...Ministry's latest "Houses of the Mole" is like a trip
back to "Land of rape and honey" combined with "Mind is a
terrible thing to taste" plus some Psalm 69 mixed together,
imo.

albums.

nothing will ever be, mind is a terrible thing to waste
again

but there stuff is more metalish and still better than 99%
of the crap out there

they are amazing live, seen them 3 times

it's funny to imagine the people who loved "with sympathy"
going out and picking up "twitch." the only element alain
jourgensen kept was the fake british accent...

hmmm... have your heard "with sympathy"? that "work for
love" track sounds like early wham.

i saw ministry back in 92... and that was the only mosh pit
i ever bled in... i kinda lost track of ministry after psalm
69... but i did enjoy them at the time.

filth pig is the only industrial album for me (no nin,
laibach, kmfdm for me), never really got into their other
stuff, maybe because i think this one is perfect

For a band that rapidly changed music styles early in their
career they sure have been stuck in a heavy-metal/industrial
rut for the last 20 years.
