Has anyone tried to snap pictures of lightning? I gave it a shot and found it quite hard. I only got 2 out of about 70 pictures.

Yeah, it was luck. 2 was one of those horizontal ones coming towards me. Got some neat video though. Lots of lightning and storms down here in Florida during the summer.

Did you know that of the 400 people struck by lightening a year, reported by the national weather service, only 70 die? That's only 17.5 percent. I thought it'd be more like 99.8 percent. Still though, I wonder if this factor is considered in the famous odds that one has better chances of being struck by lightening twice than winning the lottery once. One can't very well be struck a second time when the first time kills them now can they?

I take that back; if the first strike kills you you can still be struck again, but the odds are greatly diminished.

My cousin got struck, well they predicted it hit about 10 feet from him. He's been bound to a hospital bed for about 11 years now. He survived but is pretty much in the vegetable state.

Damn... Was he on top of a hill or something? Odd that it hit so close but not directly on him. I wonder if it was aiming for him as a path of least resistance or if it was just bad luck.
