I'd say it to me WAS wickedly intelligent intricate copy and paste antics, having a basic repeating pattern of varrying handfuls of symmetrical units, but due to the fast paste many repetitions of the basic pattern are possible and many purposeful flaws in the pattern are created to keep the symmetry mixed up... But it has kind of diminished in interest lately... The melody is the main problem, some of it is still pretty wicked, I just don't listen to it much... otto von schirach, richard devine, phoenecia are better more intelligumentally craftamed. I REALLY like what aphex did with squarepusher's influence (if he was influenced by him) in like, the RDJ album and come 2 daddy... he used similar copy paste antics but kept intelligent melody, making supremely wicked creations like the 2nd song in RDJ album and flim etc... like the sorta bass drum sound in flim is "cute" because different hits are different pitches sorta and different hits are different sounding, squarepusher uses the same exact sounds for each strike of sound... usually.

LOL
i wonder why we feel the need of giving names to everything... thats the labels problem that want to sell the product...but we must not see music as a product... so no need to give it a name...aphex´s music is just that...aphex´s music

Any two things have some similar and some different stuff between them... you can choose any characteristic and use that to form groups. You can group all music made with computers into a group. If there are varying shapes (triangles squares circles) of varrying colors, you can group them by shape or color... etc. shuddup m

"dont get hung up on labels!" give me a fucking break. i am not hung up on the labels. i want to know the genre i should try to fit him. my best guess is psychelic drum'n'bas (with serious jazz flavours). what if i try to describe his music to someone who has never heard him? i cant even possible imagine to describe the sounds he produces. categorizing him, drawing a few lines for each to work their imagination around is not getting hung up on categorizing music.
thanx to ophecks wmw and especially taoist blockade. it would of been so much easier of you guys to just say "its music, why labels?" and all that jizz i cant bear to read/hear without reacting.
