Today I read an article about a piece of software called HSS from a Spanish company called Polyphonic HMI that predicts if a song could be a huge hit or not.
They analysed almost 5 million songs from the 50's till now. Don't ask me how they did it but in this article there was an example that the song One from U2 had the same "dna" as Beethovens Ninth Symphony.
In contrast with what most people expect, the worldwide music taste would expand instead of getting more narrow.
Imagine that you will buy a CD from an online shop and the site also recommends you other releases you will like, 100% guaranteed!. And this could be a totally different genre.
This is, if I have to believe this scientific code.
I don't know what to think of it but it's kind of scary because it'll change the music industry big time.
Music is Math, like BoC would say.

Beethovens sucks harder than/then me.
I don't buy music, so I fuck the site telling me what I like.
Music is far from math.

actually, it is. the scales and intervals between notes etc are all based on mathematical functions. and making, recording or whatever on a computer is also math because...well the appz you use are all made out of mathematical functions.

Yeah, so am I!
It's also great for new artists to find out if they "have it".
I found their site.

My thought exactly.
Although Robin Williams, Anastacia and Josh Stone seem to use it already.
McCready(company owner) is convinced the musicindustry will use it as a standard within 3 years.

Well comparing U2 to Beethoven in any way apart from '.. and Beethoven proves how shit U2 are' does not bode well for whoever said it.

And don't forget that Beethoven went through a long period of being ridiculed and overlooked before he shut the bitches up with his ninth symphony!

It's not about who's better, it's just an example.
