Why do the most annoying pop songs always play in my head?

I'm outta love
Set me free
And let me out this misery
Just show me the way to get my life again
'Cause you can't handle me

AARRGGGHH! Touching the void here.

I usually have one line or one snatch of melody repeating
for hours.

this only seems to happen to me when i've woken up at a
ridiculously early hour - when i'm half-asleep with a
throbbing headache. that's when the chorus of some
completely awful pop song repeats over and over in my head.
:(

for some reason, whenever joy division's transmission is
going through my head, it always morphs into debaser
(pixies).

Some people put songs into my head. My girlfriend's sister
has a friend named Martha, and whenever I see her,
inevitably, Martha My Dear pops into my head for the next 10
minutes.

i've got "it's not unusual" by tom jones right now.

then it goes into "submission" by the sex pistols.

conjure up "yellow submarine" by the beatles to remove
unwanted pop songs. warning: there is as of yet no means
to remove "yellow submarine."

I constantly have The Spice Girls- Stop Right Now Thank You
Very Much or whatever it's called in my head.

Martha My Dear is another song that's just fucking viral to
me, too. Always finding it's way under my skin. Best song
ever.

I cannot take anything called "Touching the Void" seriously.
Maybe I've been here too long but it not merely sounds shit,
but sounds like a shit too.

(ps, I have never heard it)

If you don't listen to radio or watch TV, you'll avoid most
pop shit songs.

It's impossible, of course, but when it happens and I have
one in head, I modify the lyrics and/or notes, so I laugh at
it loud.

touching the void is a movie wherein this guy is on the
verge of losing it and this boney m song starts playing in
his head. the lyrics i put up there are by anastascia.

Beatles songs with names in them are relentless for this, I
regularly get Michelle, Doctor Robert, Hey Jude... Julia is
the worst though, that one never leaves.

I have trouble getting Doctor Robert into my head even if I
consciously try to!

i had erik malmberg's music in my head last weak. i was
surprised how precise you can "hear" it. even those
instrumental lo-fi things "sound" as they are.

I'm happy, I'm feeling glad I got sunshine, in a bag. I'm
useless but not for long...

Got my own jukebox in my head.
