Be sure to check out their cruelly overlooked swan song
album "Pygmalion."

I haven't heard that mum cover ... I think Pygmalion is out
of print. If you have any trouble finding it head over to
the opennap server...

yeah, that one... hmmm, it sounds pretty cool so far, but I
haven't listened to it all yet... the first disc is nice,
especially the first song... and I have the first track of
the second disc playing, and it's cool... so far so good!!
:)

equally good!

yeah, I started playing this album a lot recently, and it's
quite good... it used to annoy me, but if I just sit back
and let the music play, I really enjoy it... quite beautiful
stuff...

my only complaint really, is track 2 of the first disc...
everything else is killer!

first track on the second disc is my favorite.

how old is this thread?

slowdive pygmalion is great. though i havent listened to it
in awhile

the only GYBE i really liked, is probably the one nobody
likes (nobody i talk to at least), and thats yanqui u.x.o.

the rest are too over-epic for me. well, i do like slow riot
for new zero kanada as well.

overall just not my thing i guess. the skill is definitely
there though, i respect them.

I love all Godspeed, and all projects that have been
released on Constellation except for the first Fly Pan Am
and I'm not too crazy about Exhaust. Set Fire to Flames and
Esmerine (GYBE-affiliated projects) are stunning. Way to
revive a worthy thread!

yanqui uxo is the greatest thing they've ever done. i
pretty much like all their side projects too except 1 speed
bike.

i'm not a big fan of yanqui uxo really. lysflath is my
favourite. their most recent album has none of the weird and
creepy samples, which is why i like them in the first place.
as a result i have only listened to it once or twice.

wow if you're listening to godspeed for the samples then
you're really missing the point (no offense). i mean they're
great samples but the band make great music and that's the
best part of the album. they don't need speaking samples to
make good music and for some of us yanqui proves that.

Yeah, I like it for the music. The samples were really
cool, but the thing is (IMO) the earlier stuff needed
samples and found sound stuff to tie the different parts of
the long tracks together, whereas Yanqui UXO pulls off
continuous 20+ minute songs like a champ.

Anyway, speaking of Yanqui UXO, and in case no one knew,
there is approximately 8 extra minutes of material on the lp
vs the cd. The intro to MF = R (part 2) is significantly
longer, and there's this weird vocal sample (there you
go!!!) of Goerge W. Bush speaches cut up and spliced in
really interesting ways. Go get it!!!

Goerge = George.
Bush = cunt.

yeah that's what i loved about yanqui. it's a great album
to space out to because the 20 minute long songs are
completely seamless.

and mf=r is the greatest thing ever. no question.

Normally I would say something like "oh well, to each his
own" or "there's no accounting for taste", but no, you are
just wrong this time.

It's good. Maybe it leans a bit heavily on the droning
aspect, but still it delivers.
