I wrote this brief-- it includes a frequency arrangement.
I would suggest this as a must for anyone who programs music
who isn't familiar with the concepts already.

The Correspondence of Harmonic Resolution to Rhythm

yup

"this as a must"

Yeah, right...

(I would suggest you to stop reading about the perfect rules
and start improving your grooveskills a bit. Works by the
great Moritz von Oswald are highly recommended.)

:D

if you already know these things, it's probably not a must

Maybe when you post an example mp3 you could post something
that doesn't suck.

"frequency arrangement" is called frequency arrangement
because i don't see fit to give it a fucking creative name.

First off I'm assuming that because those drums mirror a 145
progression that "drums sound good when they resolve to
according to harmonic tendencies", not only in a 145
progression but in any progression. The 145 is the simplest
to demonstrate this in because not only is it the most
replayed cadence known to western commercial society, but
also because the harmonic tendencies of note resolution from
major triads 1:tonic to 4: subdominant to 5: dominant back
to 1 clearly illustrate a few important kinds of harmonic
motion from which you can garner proportionate motion from
altered progressions.
Example-- a build phrase is good building and building and
building, but if, right before the drop back to a beat,a
complicated tense harmony between drum hits' frequencies is
created, the beat can drop and resolve that tension
resulting in a more "satisfying" resolution.

The amen break is a 1-5-1-5 over and over, and even richard
d james utilizes the familiarity of those frequencies'
resolving to one another.

If you don't see the point I didn't write it well enough,
sorry.

and a bottle of rum!

you don't have to eat me, i was just kidding.

my avatar is about three years old. I was 19 and really
excited about fractals. I spent a couple hours generating
those still images of about four sequential zooms of the
mandelbrot set.

why is it pretentious?
