Ok. What do you guys think/feel about this release? This
is the first stuff I've heard by him and I'm not so sure
where i stand. Part of me really likes and is drawn to this
album, but part of me is not so sure due to the complexity
Philip Glassesque at moments) and length.

seven swans all the way. it lacks the complexity and length
you're not a fan of.

IS addictive.

Very nice album, I love the production, so precise and
layered. But none of the songs have stuck/are sticking with
me... no clever hooks, no great lines, nothing like that.
Great while it's playing though.

What? Not hooked by the anthemic Chicago? Stand in the
corner until class is over!

I don't like it. It's all samey, and the background choir
grates after a while because it's on almost every track.
Nice melodies and songs etc though.

This release is excellent. He just opened his tour here
like a week ago. Absolutely fantastic stuff.

the first half is like really fun, and smart and great, then
it starts to sound like christian music of some sort.
but it's great anyway. and michigan's great too.

that's probably because sufjan is a christian who makes
christian music. though i'm not a christian myself, i've
come to accept that beautiful music, literature and art can
and has come from this particular religion. probably due to
the works and prose of t. s. eliot and milton.

he's playing here tonight and i'm not going. i liked seven
swans and the michigan album, but he's getting increasingly
jesusy and his voice sounds like a pedophile's.

I've found that it has grown on me tremendously since I
first heard it. I'm currently listening to it twice a day.
Really can't pinpoint what it is that I like so much - I
just feel an urge to hear it, and when I'm listening I just
love it and have the best time. Good headphone album as
well. It did seem a little samey to me at first, but the
more I hear it the more distinctive the various tracks
become.
