is there a city in uk that has a strong electronica scene
going..something in terms of late 80'/ early 90's chicago?

think i should've said anything to begin with. oh well, this
has been a refreshing experience. so long.

Essex was a big electronic music rave scene, what
with 'The Barn' where Aphex, Squarepusher and the Prodigy
played. But no more :(

I did thing manchester first, but essex - prodigy / rave
era, sheffield - warp LFO era etc, london D&B, grime

i'm sure there's stuff going on everywhere to some extent.

"sheffield - warp LFO era etc"

can you name some other artists from that period?

UK is pretty small, slower movements like electronica don't
really have a solid base. I think Aphex Mu-Ziq and Vibert
are all from Cornwall, I guess thats quite seminal but
basically the answer is no.

Pulp are from there no, didn't they do a song as well
"Sheffield, Sex City"? Cabaret Voltaire, Human League,
Heaven 17... weren't they all at the EPICENTRE of Sheffield
synthy new wave?

about those others as it should be about electronic music..

I don't think there's anywhere with a strongly-defined
electronica "scene" at the moment over here, i think it's
really gone beyond all that anyway. The whole
*cough*IDM*cough* thing is really too pluralistic to have a
kind of HQ like it did back in the bleep days.

The only thing i can think of is the whole grime thing, i
suppose it's really starting to "blow up" and get mainstream
exposure now, and this sentence makes me want to die, yeah.
The free party sort-of-acid scene is still going strong down
south, but then it's been doing its own thing for years,
chris liberator and all that stuff, cheap drugs and spazzy
dancing, sweeet.

I love that acid techno type stuff... stay up forever,
smitten records etc... blatant drug music, good fun.

its often said among friends here that "we dont get any good
electronic music" and that "its all in the uk" and "we have
to buy tickets to the uk" one day so that we can see "some
good electronic music shows"

I'm not in the UK at the moment and I do miss the freely
avaibable quality electronic nights / gigs. Start yer own?

trying to. in texas its not really liked by alot of people,
the more complex stuff is always referred to as 'rave'

nautilis is from texas..and he's awesome!

i dont really like nautilis all that much. beats are sort of
weak too. i think my stuff is better than his. but yeah its
cause of real cliche "IDM" like that that just keeps it
shallow here.

I've only got "sketches", but it's one of the few
generic-ish electronic albums i really enjoy. Well produced,
well put-together, nice tunes, nice Beatzzz or whatever.
Good album. I like nautilis.
