Right I've tried to burn cds in XP before - but when I
bring up Nero on my laptop, it doesn't see the burner, the
only option is the Image Recorder (make an ISO).

I thought it was something to do with my laptop, but when I
tried it on a new desktop with a fresh XP install straight
from the manufacturer, it's the same business.

However, I'm able to make cds using the cd burner that's
built into winxp - but I don't want to. is Nero not seeing
the cd-burner cos it's being hogged by XP itself? Anyone
experience anything like this? Atari Jaguar?

Maybe you need the full version of Nero. The Nero I got with
my CD drive only supports that type of drive. I can't
remember though if it failed to see the drive or just said
it was unsupported, so that might or might not be your
problem.

I'm using this:
Ahead.Nero.Burning.ROM.v6.3.1.17.Ultra.Edition

Works fine...

their official site or some torrent? as xceque says, some
nero version that are bundled with certain burners are made
so that they only "see" that type of burner...

I'm using a full (ahem, cracked) Nero reloaded or whatever
its called. The full snazzy job. v6.6.0.13. And it sees all
the drives I've ever tried with it (about 15 different
models).

I would get a copy of Nero 6 and see if that makes any
difference because Nero seems to be recognising it OK enough
in the info.

i had the same problem. find a newer version of nero,
chances are that when the version you have was made your
drive didnt exist, thus nero was not programmed to recognize
it.
