i was just sitting on a bench waiting for the bus. suddenly
an exhausted turkish women stumbled down on the bench next
to me, she smelt of alcohol and there was a hole in her
otherwise neat dress. she turned her head to me and said
".... how much is the bus?" i said "1 euro 80 cents" .. she
was like "1 euro 80 ?? sigh!!" .. i said "um .. i could give
you the money for the bus, that's no problem" .. she
responded "NO NO NO NO!". i thought that was it.
then she went on "i got six boys ... they're always there
for me .. they're always there for me :-)" .. i thought
"okay, that's why you are drinking when it's day and you do
stuff in the city, silly" .. then she said "no .. they are
never there for me .. they are never there for me .... you
do know my boys, right?" .. since i dont know any turkish
*boys* personally i said "No" .. and then the expression on
her face got a bit darker and she was like "Then you dont
know what they do to me .... you dont know what they do to
me" .. and then she started to cry and sunk into herself and
didnt say anything anymore.
i felt the misery, the atmosphere exuded misery.

I think it's a little nasty of her to drag you into her
personal life just because she wants to rant, if she was so
drunk I doubt she would have been able to contrl herself,
but it was her fault to get drunk in the first place

i would have preferred if she hadnt told me, of course. on
the other she really seemed to suffer, which makes it
understandable.

not trying to sound too cynical but she probably had some
psychiatric issues.

probability = very high. who goes around talking like that
to total strangers. and all that 'you know my boys..'; being
funky and plastered during the day, etc. she sounds bipolar
or psychotic.

I suppose there is something comforting about people being
that open.

Strange story, but not THAT strange, that's what sucks and
blows. I don't like having my spirit burdened by vicariously
experiencing dark things like that, but can't hold it
against her that much. Bless her and stuff.

I disagree. Well maybe but perhaps you looked like someone
she has seen before. When you werent (due to her drunk
stage) she became disheartened and started blubbering
drunken things that one would normally keep in.

I feel bad for her. Sounds like quite an interesting moment
though.
