is there a special sound that you enjoy, if only for
nostalgic reasons? if you have samples, it'd be great!

I find that for both nostalgia and the fact that it soothes
tinnitus, the sound of rain on tents is amazing!
unfortunately, I haven't been able to record the sound of
it, but it can be somewhat reproduced with an umbrella,
although the umbrella doesn't have the nostalgia attached.

I like it when machines sound like they are yelling, crying
out in pain

creaking wood.

either a long peice of wood, and you bend it, and it creaks,
or even just creaky wood floors. the sound of anything
buckling is great.

err-err-er-er---er----er-------er

great sounds! keep 'em coming!

I'd like to add the sound of a single car driving at night
down in the valley where our cabin is up in the side, and
generally the sound outside of this cabin at night (which is
very different from the sound at day, believe me).

even though I still think rain on a tent will remain my
fav... the sound is just such a great combination of
soothing, noisy and quiet all at the same time! also, the
feeling of being inside the tent, being somewhat dry, but
seing the moisture in the air around you, knowing you can
just crawl a bit deeper into your sleeping-bag and be warm
while listening to the amazing sound... mmmmmmmm...

I don't think I've ever been camping in a tent. Shame, seems
like lots of fun. Especially on a rainy day. Cozy.

my favorite sound, nostalgia wise, would have to be this
bird that I would always hear in the afternoons growing up
in Ohio. I never did find out what kind of bird it was,
though I suspect they are pretty common, at least in
northeastern united states. if I can find sound samples of
what I'm talking about I'll post them here.

I've also always enjoyed the sound of a really deep,
powerful engine. I don't like super-loud engines, I just
appreciate the ones with awesome tone.

trippy droning/random synth sounds are a personal favorite
too.

Mike Oldfield`s deep and gentle guitar,
Vangelis` synth in Blade Runner,
Elizabeth Fraser`s voice,
orchestra`s string section,
soprano voice,
deep growl vocal.

Powerful beats in big amounts.

Sandra and Ellen Dedrick's voices are the best sounding
thing I've ever herad. Rain on a tent is a truly great one
too, yeah, just thinking about it alters my mood. I like any
long/moody song that incorporates some sort of pitter
pattering rain or a storm into it. Cheap trick and
infallible. And I really like jangly Rickenbacker guitars
that are allowed to ring out, especially when they're 12
string.
