I've been really appreciating Felix for the past 6 months -
ever since I picked some sheet music from someone:
Fantasias, Songs without Words. Well I recommend him to
anyone who's interested in Classical music - get the
hebrides overture, his octet, and the first 4 books of his
Songs without Words - beautiful stuff!

On a side note, Grieg is still fab too! His piano
compositions are just so perfect!

I violently disagree with you there I have to say. I'm not
sure if you can read sheet music, but it might help your
appreciation (I'm not saying people can't appreciate the
same, just it is easier if one can read sheet music).

yep I can read sheet music. I haven't had much exposure to
Mendelssohn, apart from studying the trout quintet in depth
in school, and some piano trios and quartets at home..

It's just I don't really dig Classical music. I much prefer
the stuff out of the Romantic period. Classical stuff is far
too simple for my liking, although I adore haydn's string
quartets and mozart piano concerti.

i'll check out some of the stuff you've reccomended though,
probably have it at home.

if u prefer stuff from the romantic period then you should
prefer Mendelssohn, since he is well...from the romantic
period. personally i think he sucks, the only thing i
admire about the dude was his part in helping revive
interest in the music of js.bach.

jesus. you're totally right.

i think i just got the impression of his being classical
music from the trout quintet..

rather embarrassed i am.
some sheet music (might just be Lieder)

The Trout Quintet is by Franz Schubert.

The 4 bars of sheet music at the top of the page you linked
to, is the beginning of one of the Songs without Words - one
which I myself played on the piano not 60 minutes ago.
