recent noise gig review

Been at a nice small gig featuring three electroacoustic
(ambient, drone, noise) musicians Francisco Lopez from
Madrid, Michel Gendreau from somewhere in the US, Violet
(Jeff Surak) from the same somewhere in the US and our
ukrainian noise terrorist Kotra who organised this btw and
whose performance i missed in the ends

Michel Gendreau is claimed to be a professional acoustic,
working at plants creating noise suppression systems,
building hi-tech soundlabs.. a lot of small mics on the
table filled with different knobs wires and small aparata
and a notebook - sounded a bit not energetic.. too short and
too quiet. He can do better, i am sure.

(Violet) Jeff Surak was good - started to play on a small
fan which forced air onto a small piece of foil stuck
between two strings of a toy dulcimer (i suppose it was a
dulcimer), with three staplers put on the strings of it so
that it affected the resonance in some way. three effect
pedals in a row - like distortion and compressor, different
shite on the table which he used somehow in the process of
sound creation. It was a long set and a nice one, ending
with a loud noise pumped up, up, up and then suddenly
silence. i recommend:)

Then Francisco Lopez - audience was asked to turn their
faces away from the performer, and to put blindfolds on
their eyes (not required but recommended) so I don't know
what were his instruments, but it was good. Just some
motherfuckers photographed me with a blindfold, bothering a
little. It was long, various, sometimes industrial sounding
soundscapes with rhythm from time to time. Quite good and I
recommend it, too. Spain people, check him when he's back!
:)

they did an improv jam after that with Kotra (one nice chap
from Kiev:) but i missed it - went outside to meet
noise-hating friends.

Hey, Matvey, thanks again for recommending me nexsound, I`ve
found many interesting things there. Very refreshing sounds:
Polyvox Polpouli 2 is massive!

glad you like it. they are becoming more and more powerful
now, the folks at nexsound, can be referred to as
authorities in ukrainian music already.

doesn`t matter, let us rejoice!

btw: I really find the nexsound sound much better than most
net-labels I know. (more experimental for sure)

If you happen to know any other places witch this kind of
music, let me know!!

:)

no, don't think I know more of such netlabels. i know
nexsound because it is a real label first, then netlabel,
and because i'm located close to it so i see all the gigs
organized by them and communicate with one of its artists
rather well..

i know they sometimes release their stuff on netlabels like
Autoplate, Nishi, microbio and -n. Guess there is a lot of
other stuff to be heard and enjoyed on these labels too.
