soulfull trackk

it's me and a friend.
keyboard and sung female vocals are her. drums and rap is
me.

it didnt start out as a serious track. there are some
mistakes. and it's still one of my first hiphopish attempts.
listen anyway.
what about my raps? are they wack? it's like the first time
i recorded me rapping. and what about the singing?

nice background, but you need to do stuff with the vocals..
hard to make parts of it out and there's clipping on the
chicks voice. re-recording this and doing it in your native
language (I'm guessing german from your nick) would be
better, I think...

if you are indeed english speaking, I'm sorry, but then
that's just a testament to how badly recorded the vocals
are.

one more tip. it sounds like you're holding the mic too
close to your mouth to compensate for having to keep your
voice down for some reason. just step back and use your
voice more.. use the stomach.

that's what i thought, too. drums + keyboard are nice,
vocals have their weak points.
what do you exactly mean with "hard to make parts of it
out"?
considering the rap. well, it wasn't a very serious attempt,
so i didnt bother writing my own lines but rapped some kool
keith stuff.

well.. in parts of your rap I just couldn't make out which
word you were saying...

speaking.

hehe.. I've done that, and it's always easy to spot. just
re-record when you don't have to keep your voice down and
don't be afraid to step back and shout the words out (as
long as you keep the peaks below "clip"). also, use a
mic-stand and a pop-filter (if you haven't got one, those
felt-like things that are in front of speaker-elements work
just fine!).

didn't try to sound mean there, it's just that your using a
low quality mic and the excessive 'mother fucking' got a
little annoying.

thanks for your advice. i'll try to do it again considering
your indications.
and thx for listening, too.

yess, it's a bit much motherfucker / motherfucking /
fucking. that's what kool keiths lyrics said. hm. i never
really tried to record my own vocals before. i didnt figure
out yet how to do it in the right way. thx for listening!

rap in german instead with better mic quality and you could
have a solid track :)

phew. there's no imprint on the mic anymore. it was the
cheapest one i got in music store 3 years ago. about 20
euros. i used it to record acoustic guitar playing. like i
said, i never really did vocal stuff.

and the rap lyrics are stolen! hehe that's a dr dooom (kool
keith) track. shame on you! :)

my true feelings about this track:

the production sucks, the song sucks. the only thing i liked
was the girl's vocal bit.

well, i think if i try a bit around with the settings i can
achieve a recording of better quality. but it's not a very
good microphone, either.

hehe.
as for my part i'm not very much into writing lyrics. i
tried to rap now and i'll try to do it again considering the
advice but all in all i dont think i'll stick to doing
vocals actually.
