Is it true that it is easy to get caught using Bit Torrents
(by the feds)? I'm hoping not since they can be v. useful.

Torrents are not at all anonymous. Your IP address is
exposed for the world to see. Anytime you use P2P apps you
should fire up PeerGuardian first. It's spozed to block
known anti-p2p organizations from accessing your shares and
torrents and stuff. I doubt it's a perfect solution but any
precautions are better than none.

i dunno but today in my country a new law have applyed so
that you cant download things legal any more so it is a
possibility to get caught while downloading :(

but when you think about it, how the hell can any software
block anti p2p organizations from your ip when you, i or
anybody can hop on to any torrent and find someones ip.

It blocks the ranges of IP addresses that are known to be
assigned to anti-P2P organizations, government agencies etc.
- you know, similar to how a particular ISP will have
certain ranges of IP addresses that it is authorized to use
and can assign to subscribers.

Its cool because I only download/share child porn. They only
care about catching people who hurt big businesses by
sharing stuff like the latest Avril Lavine album or
"Garfield: The Movie"
