Oh god!

What a question! Is it suppose to be a counterbalance for
the "dying" thread?

Is it true there are men (not women) who can reach orgasm
only from nipple touching/playing/sucking - without cockplay
etc. ? And yeah - it gives me a hard-on when it comes to
nipple play.

Is it an IDM forum, or something?

I don`t really take notice of my nipples.

Better one. Recently I`ve read "Dubliners" in a new polish
translation. I think the last story is the best.

My bird likes the nipple play, you can proper tease a girl
with it .. play with their tits for half an hour then just
go and sit in another room haha.. watch them come in begging

Interesting..

This is something that's subject to a lot of debate - even
though Joyce's work has been translated into plenty
of languages, there are those who say, myself included, that
the full meaning of his works cannot be understood outside
of English, and more importantly - outside Hiberno-English.

There are hundreds and hundreds of "in-jokes", especially in
Ulysses, that simply couldn't be understood by foreigners
unless they have a deep knowledge of Ireland, especially the
Ireland of Joyce's time.

Did you read Ulysses in polish as well? Many of the words in
that are spelled phonetically.. So I think a lot is lost in
translation.

In any event, Dubliners doesn't pose as much of a problem in
this respect.. and yes -- The Dead is an incredible story :)
Brilliant. I think most people who've read Dubliners will
agree that it's the best in the book.

There's a very good dramatisation of it as well, which was
done by RTE (our national television company) a long time
ago, in the 60s or 70s. I have it on tape, which is rapidly
deteriorating.. So if I ever get the means to copy tape
tv-out onto divx or something, I'll definitely record it,
and keep you in mind.

I`ve read Ulysses in polish (the transtlation by Maciej
Slomczynski is more that great), and I`ve read also my
favourite episodes (3, 8, 11, 13) in original.

Many phonetical puns are not translated but a good
equivalent is given in polish. Slomczynski translated U. for
12 years, so I`m pretty sure that he knew what he was
doing.

And I`ve also had the opportunity to read "Finnegans Wake".
(The last 2 pages) It`s tough like hell.

It's taken from baby-talk: when a child is acquiring speech,
he/she cannot physically pronounce many words correctly.
"ickle" is often said instead of "little".. which you know.

Don't see why it's not a word.. As long as it's origin is
taken into account..

ickle ickle ickle ickle ickle

hahaha yes, Finnegans wake. what a.. i don't know. I'm not
even going to attempt it, not for another decade or two.
It's madness.

I absolutely adore the "last" sentence. Not just the fact
that it ends midway into the sentence, to signify the cyclic
philosophy Joyce was toying with at the time, but it's just
another example of the *perfect* words put together, with
even some wordplay involed as well..

yeah... I don't doubt that there could be different meanings
of this when it comes to dialects and stuff like that since
it's some baby-talk-ish thingie.

i read Ulysses in french and it was really tough, i
understood not much and was pissed from times to times, i
think a lot is lost in the translation
nevertheless some moments were excellent and i think it's an
awesome book

It's pointless reading James Joyce in translation, unless
it's The Dubliners or Portrait of the artist as a Young Man.

joyce's effect depends primarily on his lyricism, that is
informed so thoroughly by his irishness. you could learn
plenty about french, though, by reading ulysses in french,
and then comparing it with the english-language original, if
you knew english. joyce is one of my favourite authors,
along with william s. burroughs, thomas pynchon, philip k.
dick, kurt vonnegut, and oscar wilde.

Wouldn't it take a Frenchman with the same Genius as Joyce
to translate it properly though? Otherwise you would only
learn something about translations... ie they aren't a patch
on the original.
