yeah, i'm 15, and i've recently had the sudden interest in
making music(softare/hardware) and i really don't know where
to start. hardware or software? both? for software, i have
reason and fruity loops but i have no clue how to use them
comfortably. i was wondering if anyone on this board could
help me out with anything. thanks.

dont invest in hardware YET... (unless u need it..) software
will allow for huge possibilities for now.. (plus its free)
but soon enough u might find fruityloops limiting..

yes i make ch00ns, when i have time and will that is.. argh
[school]

but i suggest checking out impulse tracker or modplug
tracker. trackers are fun as hell but will take some time
to figure out. just keep hacking away and you'll get it bit
by bit.

i've only really made 1 song and i only used fruity loops
and a program that makes computer voices. I suggest using
goldwav to make interesting drum sounds and adding cool
effects!

my music is pretty much all sample based, i generate sounds
too, but you will most likely need a good sound wav editor..
soundforge is the greatest hands down. look on mirc and
soulseek for this shit

yeah, i know mirc is all big and shit, and i've dl'd that
program once.. i just have no clue how to use it. how do you
search for shit on there?

use which program, sound forge? just play with it, record
some crap, sample some cds, play with fx, pitch, normalize,
reverb, etc..

on mirc well hmm, you just gotta know the right people ..
most is kinda hard to find unless you got the hookups,
soulseek might help

i use modplug tracker. You put wav files into little rows
and columns and time progresses down through the rows, you
can change the amount of rows in a "pattern" put in effects
etc. make the wavs be in certain keys etc. I think reason is
probably better but havn't used it.
