So, to get back on topic:

After having put it on the backburner for about 7 years, I
finally decided to finish building my sliver deck. I spent
about 30 bucks on sleeves and a cadre of new slivers to
round it off, as I have friends who just started playing
with their old cards again. They both have really fast
decks, so I almost always lose to them (I play casual-style
tribal-theme decks), but my sliver deck is fast enough to
actually give them a run for their money. To keep the nerd
cooties from spreading, I've found the right balance to be a
couple of games of magic per year. :D

Also, anyone here playing mtg Online? I just spent $10 on
the program, but didn't realize that it came with no cards.
So I spent $9 on a digital deck, but it was a core set deck
and apparently only came with 40 cards? What the fuck? After
$19 dollars invested in the online shit, I still
don't have a deck I can actually play against people with.
Oh, and the cards are expensive as shit to buy digitally. I
have a card store about 15 minutes from my house that sells
packs for $2.25-$2.50, rather than the retail $3.99. I had
figured that Wizards would do something like that with the
online service, as you don't get the physical cards, but
just the digital facsimile to play with online. Overall, I'm
not too impressed with MTGO.

that last part came out a bit retarded... but what I meant
to say is that $4.00 for 15 digital cards is just too
expensive.

i used to play it as a kid and even did pretty well in a
tournament once using my blue/green deck.

Oh, and the card design/layout just keeps getting worse and
worse in magic. The set Futuresight introduced a card layout
that I think is even worse than the change from scourge to
mirrodin.

the mana icons positioned vertically on the top left corner?
yuck.

red - guarantees fast play with lots of action

Well, the good news is that only a fraction of the cards in
futuresight have that layout, I suppose because it's a trial
period. Hopefully, enough people are up in arms that it
won't become the standard layout for all magic cards.

aw man i though a sliver deck would only contain those
tempest exodus(?) and stronghould NICE slivers

these new layouts are shit and the best drawes left wizards
long time ago. do you remember Richard Kane Fergunson?

artificially inflated its value.

I don't care for that new design either, but I understand
that it was made for some of the cards in Future Sight only.
They wanted that whole futuristic look and stuff...

Yeah.. I still play on occasion, but not near as much as
when I was younger. I'm poor, and playing Magic seriously
(which I used to do... sorta) costs too damn much.

And yeah... Homing Sliver with Patriarch's Bidding (assuming
you're not playing Type 2) in a sliver deck could be some
fun. Kinda reminds me of the Survival of the
Fittest/Recurring Nightmare combo I abused the hell out of.
I'm sad...

I don't play MTGO. The idea of paying what they're asking to
buy online cards just doesn't sit well with me... yet oddly
it's not nearly as big of a problem for me to shell out the
same amount for the cardboard versions.... Yea, I don't get
it...

Oh... missed this post... but yea.. I don't think they're
gonna use that design again.

I'm the same way. I think it's because having the physical
card feels like more of a collectable and more substantial.
Paying retail for just digital cards is kinda ridiculous.
They're probably afraid that if they make the online version
cheaper to play, everyone will stop playing the real
cards...

Well, i'm off to reboot for the third time from the magic
online software. Apparently, if you try to login and the
server is down or momentarily malfunctions, the program
crashes and nothing can make it go away other than a reboot.
The people at Wizards come up with cool card ideas, but
goddamn they need some help with the software coding. :/

I came up with the magii variant called Pet Cemetery which
is referenced on this page :

Not referenced in the best light, sure. I found out long
after playing/hosting that star city games'd taken an
interest.

futuresight styling is R&D's way of testing out new concepts
on the gaming public without committing themselves for the
long haul (a la the card backing). if reaction's overall
negative you wont see the styling again, natch.

Xeron : "It's a rip-off of Pokemon the trading cards game.
That was
the only "card game" i ever got into and it will be the
only
one. Looking back I spent ridiculously huge amounts of
money
for pieces of coloured card (although..... some of them
were
shiny *shiny*). "

pokemon was created by wotc to get people in to m:tg that
didn't have the mental capacity/time to delve directly in to
mechanics of m:tg or portal from the beginning. it's like
portal for portal.
