i spent 7 hours picking up music for 1 hour and 45 min of
playtime yesterday. i had to pick only vinyl stuff this time
so it took me over 3 hours just to run through vinyls and
pick some, it took me another 4 hours to listen to all the
stuff i picked and put it in some kind of a order.
anyway, here's what i came up with in the end:
1.tangerine dream - cloudburst flight
2.art of noise - spit
3.burning spear - slavery days
4.mantronix - stone cold roach
5.herbie hancock - karabali
6.videosex - zamlja pleše
7.david bowie - the man who sold the world
8.smear pat ruthen - princess
9.kate bush - running up that hill
10.human league - almost medevial
11.legendary pink dots - tower three
12.meat puppets - climbing
13.marko brecelj - same prave stvari
14.elvis costello - opportunity
15.opal - supernova
16.lou reed - with you
17.red crayola - x
18.emanuelle cisi,nicola mucisi, zlatko kaucic - pesem
nostalgikov
19.vijay iyer&mike ladd - terminal city
20.beige - hubschlacht v1.0
21.susumu yokota - naminote (rhythm mix)
22.eardrum - city collision (freeform rmx)
23.gavouna (three)
24.pierre morlen's gogn - fearie steps
25.joan baez - no expectations
26.emiliana torrini - heart stopper (radio edit)

btw, if someone knows some interesting info about any of the
songs please let me know.. or else i'll spent another hour
or two looking for that :D

Apparently yo forgot about Vangelis. (He he he)

kate bush - running up that hill - this is a graet song, it
has got a nice video, also; with Donald Sutherland
starring.

david bowie - the man who sold the world

I`ve never heard it sung by Bowie, only by you-know-who.

it's pretty much the same. they didn't re-arange it..which
is a good thing to do beacuse it's a real nice song as it is
:)

tangerine dream - cloudburst flight

I got a ever-lasting problem with this band. I know they
released shitloads of stuff, and that thay are considered
influential, but I haven`t heard not even a single song by
them. Isn`t that werid?

oh, and therefore that pat smear is next on the list..to
educate people :D

Is thist list somehow profiled, or it just supposed to be
good music?

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2005-06-24 02:06 [#01642607]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

well, basically it's supposed to be just good music,
although it must fit together and there are a few things i
must be careful about.. it's tough to come up with something
awesome as there's lots of that old stuff since i had to
picl vinyl only - it's much easier when i get to pick from
cds as well :)

i had one kate bush album with army dreams, babuska songs
and that's the only one I heard, and don't remember almost
anything about it. Lou Reed - i had two albums somewhere,
possibly with that song.
Band and artist names are familiar to me but songs aren't.
Is Emiliana Torrini good? I liked her site because of the
face of her on the left.

emiliana, si alright, but personally i find her songs to be
too much in the same vein..it's almost like listening to one
song on repeat. it's easy listening music so perhaps it's
supposed to be that way..btw. i might see her live next
week.

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2005-06-24 02:24 [#01642621]

oh yes, and if someone knows the playtimes (or where to
check) of the next songs that'd be great:
-benjamin zehaniah (the zulu compilation) - the boat is
sinking
-beige - hubschlacht v 1.0
-susumu yokota - naminote (rhythm mix)

thanks!

yeah, they don't want to tell anyone to fuck off i think so
they're really pushing us so some of us would quit by
ourselfs..they're doing a good job i'd say :)

as for yokota - i'd recommend you everything - perhaps get
his latest album 'symbol' or 'sakura' which has some
fantastic songs, and if you prefer something a bit different
'grining cat'. if you'll like those three get everything
else.

hehe... no, I actually haven't been drinking too much
lately.. I know I'm short on cash, so I spend a minimum.
however, tomorrow I will HAVE to go out and do some
celebrating. It's Isle of MTV, which I normally wouldn't
give a crap about, but Common and Razhel are playing.. so
I'm going, and I thought I'd use this occasion to celebrate
me not only passing, but actually acing one of the classes I
had this year. Fucking annoyoing classes, as I kind of was
tricked into taking them, but I was expecting like d on
both, but I ended up with a C and an A. I have NO idea how,
though.

hahah! yeah, if only I could convince them to do that.. my
mother hates computers and my father hates new things
(except for jazz, so I don't have any trouble getting him to
pay for music for me (although that was easier when I was
still living at home)! hahah! I think I took half his record
collection (ok, not half. He's got around 10000 cds now I
think.. last we counted we got 5000 and that was six years
ago). He also has lots of vinyl, but not as much...)

but now I'm rambling. are there any other things on that
playlist of yours you'd think I'd like, and will your radio
shows be available on the webs later on you think?
