This man is awesome for the same reason as that guy who cut
off his off his own leg with a pocket knife or that other
guy who fought off a shark. They had the will to act while
facing death. If that ain't awesome then I don't wanna be
awesome.

Cutting off a leg with a pocket knife? How does that work
with the bone and all. And yes these men are heros!

They are AWESOME!

i guess the adrenaline helps, plus the freezing cold in the
case of the leg-chopper.

but yeah, pretty brave!

how did he cut through his bone with a dull little pocket
knife while a shark was thrashing him around in the water?

to do any chopping of it

The leg was crushed by a vindictive tree he cut down. Yeah,
he had to cut through tendon and break through the bone to
the other side. That or bleed to death in a forest.

AWESOME

if there is any time for you to have the will to act, it is
when you are facing death.

this seems only logical to me.

when a creature is attacking you, rational thinking isnt
even an option anymore. you have a will to live, so you act
if you don't get paralysed by fear first (which really
wouldnt be anything to be ashamed about).

once, i went diving and i went too deep. i almost ran out of
oxygen so i swam up as fast as i could and i survived. am i
awesome or what?

oh, i though the pocket knife incident was up a mountain,
and he had to cut through his leg to avoid freezing to
death... maybe that time he had to cut through his arm
though. gutted if it's the same bloke!

leopard! ACE! And sharing oxygen non the less!

Yes, you are indeed awsome but to a lesser extent. I once
got hit head on by a car while riding my bike. Not because
of overriding fear or shock. I lacked the will to act in the
face of danger. That event almost happened again years later
but I survived because I didn't let fear lead to indecision.

in 'sgonsin, we call 'em silverfish. i don't usually
have the pleasure of running into them very often, because
usually they have enough sense to stay away from people!

woah, what we (at least my mom) call silverfish here looks
more like a horseshoe crab the size of a pencil eraser.

much less demonic.
