yes, a car can't race by itself just as a rowing boat can't row of its own accord.

actually on second consideration the rational part of me says formula 1 isn't a sport but my pride and love for formula 1 says you just can't see the subtle differences between what i said and what you said.

dont feel alone
formula 1 is a sport
you have to be fast you need skills and technique it requires a lot of physical effort (pilots loose like 4 kg in each race)
it involves tactiques and strategy
its a sport anyway you look at it

tequila!
barrichelo, the brazilian pilot! thats the sport emotion! my country feel like in the ayrton senna times! go, barrichelo, go!
i think formula 1 is a bit diferent from soccer.
nacmat: even needing all these, the most important thing is the car! a pilot can have lot of skills and not win for not having the best car. imagine if soccer games were defined by the quality of shoes and clothes.

it is, but phisical training and hability isnt important in formula1.
if formula1 is a sport, is the only in wich is impossible getting better with training. the winners can not be the best riders.

proportionally money is more "important" in football. Without high salaries these "athletes" want play. At least in F1 90% of the money doesn't go to the drivers, infact in some cases they have to pay for their seat.

"nacmat: even needing all these, the most important thing is

A crappy driver doesn't win if he has the best car. Their training and preparation is bigger than say our beloved football stars, their concentration needs to be their for what, one and a half hours straight? No intermissions, they don't pay attention they mess up and lose a place or crash out. Don't underestimate the effort these men put into it. It's not a get up and go kind of thing.
On a sidenote, wtf was up with the guy ending up in third place? He went wild as if his position on the stage was really a hard earned one.

racing is a sport, albeit not a very difficult one. anyone with some proper training and track time can do what any of these so-called racers do. truth is that most of these guys get to have all the fun racing because they come from wealthy families or are heavily connected!
