Do any of you music makers use these programs? Im thinking
of getting them, but I want ot spend time making music, not
agonizing over manuals. How does it work for you? If you use
it that is.

MAX is fucking crazy. I learned the very basics of it at a
summer program I was working on. I had it so that there
were three different pictures of people I had interviewed on
the screen, when you clicked on them the interview started
to roll, and then there was a selection of Aphex loops the
user could use as background music and you could change the
volume.

Only a few weeks later I was at an electronic show called
Unity Gain and I saw that this guy had MAX open, but I could
hardly tell because he had like a 1000 windows all connected
with those little wires it was like a billion times more
complicated than what I had been doing. It was also running
the movies for the visuals that were playing on the walls.
I think MAX would be great for live shows and a lot of these
guys were using it. You can make your own program in which
you can make your own knobs and sliders to make the playback
of a tune you wrote different in some way.

yeah it seems wicked, I dont care about the visual
component, but controlling programs from other programs has
to be sweet :) Guess ill fiddle with the demo.
