Sheffield based Audiobulb Records has set a seemingly impossible task to contemporary music artists. Artists have been asked to write a complete track of music using sounds exclusively derived from a 1 second 440 hz sine wave. A sine wave (often refered to as a test tone) is mathematically the simpliest and purist tone available.
The project has been seized upon by artists keen to demoinstrate their versatility and sound design skills. Audiobulb Records now hosts two volumes (with a third volume well under way) of free to download music derived from this project.
The music can be found at the project page of audiobulb

I've made a track too once out of a single sine wave. I rock!

Interestingly, or possibly only to me, when I read this post I was listening back to the Hear and Now programme I recorded last night with live performances from Yasunao Tone, Frank Bretschneider, Carsten Nicolai and Olaf Bender. Musics on a similar vein. I'll check this out in a bit.

oh, interesting! i will download this... (what does "microsound" mean?)
have you heard of Sachiko M? she's a musician using mainly empty samplers and sine waves... some of her works are only made of sine waves... very minimalistic and extreme stuff.
