Hi,

I've recently discovered the joys of soundclick, and I did a
thread a short while ago for a random electronic piece I
uploaded (which was only available in shit quality at the
time)...

Well now that can be downloaded in hi-fi, and there's two
new songs on there. If you have the time, I'd really
appreciate feedback on the song "Trip", which took a fairly
long time to produce, and seems to produce completely
opposite reactions from different people...

thanks

i listened to Trip. it's well produced, but personally i
don't really like it.

it's interesting to listen to for a while, because there are
lots of things going on, lots of trickery. it's just not the
kind of thing i'd want to listen to very often.

Thanks, I appreciate the honesty. The trickery was actually
more more down to synth work and anal programming than
anything else...:-)

Oh btw, have you had a listen to the other one now that it's
up in normal quality? I seem to remember you liking it more.

"Trip" is a strange one. I think it's really great for me
(and I don't mean to sound big headed), but while some
people have shared my liking for it, others have reacted to
it like it was a boring piece of wank. Ah well, opinions. :)

trip: kinda weird but I really like it. At first I thought
"ah shit, one of these tracks" but then it surprised me and
continued to surprise me until I found myself enjoying
myself. really quite sexual.

odd: right from the word go I thought "yes. this is going to
be good". I love your style actually. It's like completely
different to anything I've heard before. What software do
you use? any hardware? This track is generally really well
done and fulfilling.

dynamic: this is a pleasant track. the beat is nice. the
backing chime makes me think of old skool video games.
Something almost oriental to it! This is definetely a
chilling track. It sounds very professional if not a tiny
little bit cheesy. Barely noticeable though. Good job on
this one.

All in all I really like your music. It's been a pleasure
listening to your tracks.

thanks!

Yeah, trip starts with a "Generic IDM track no.120293" feel,
but I kind of wanted it to start like that and then morph it
into something a bit more psychedelic and melodic.

Glad you liked Odd, people find the solo in that a bit too
intrusive but what can you do....

I've only heard "Splash" by you, so I'll going to have a
look at your other stuff. I really like listening to
unsigned artists.

I use a lot of hardware, which I've collected second hand
over the years, or been given: the MPC1000 (great for beats
and playing samples with live), CS2x (the first synth I ever
got), Novation KS5, Juno-106 Roland SV5050 etc...I use
CakewalkSonar3, which is really great software as its
powerful and easy to use. Lots of random plugins as well.

Are you soft-synth based or do you use hardware?

I liked "trip" a lot, excellent rave material but only if
your getting into new less repetitive glitched-up rave
music. Gr8t for dancing (my way at least).

I am soft-synth based only. I would love to use hardware but
I find the idea kind of daunting!

Yeah, lots of cables everywhere heheh. Because I didn't know
what I was doing at the beginning and just sort of found out
by accident how to connect hardware and MIDI everything up
to the PC, things are a lot more messy now then they could
have been. I've got lots of small mixers going into the PC,
for example, because I couldn't afford a big one but I kept
running out of inputs for the synths. It's all a mess, but
it's great fun using hardware, and I like working with a
mess. :-)

If I didn't have to sign up for anything, then I would
listen to it. But I don't want to have to enter an email
address, wait around for an email and constantly have to
reenter my identity even tho I pressed the 'remember me
every time' button. I never remember my passwords for all
the different music hosting sites, so I don't ever bother
anymore.

I am not logged into the website, and at colledge, and I can
hear the tracks. I don't know why it isn't working for
you... :S

Yeah. I tried downloading, and it asked me for a login. I
don't want to have to sign up for stuff anymore, just so I
can hear someones music. I kind of figured instead of having
to browse endless ammounts of spam... that I was going to
stop.
