well, the album is excellent

I dont know why you try to hide that, eventhough its
vsnares, artist that you dislike so much... and I dont know
why, cos the artist showed a great range of musics
throughout the years... if you dont think so take a listen
to printf and then to this one...

everything, music, sound palette, arrangements, melodies,
beats, production... has evolved in a huge way

good album bob

do you like lp5? in a very far away point these two albums
meet

lol, i remember the time you were really into snares, it's
kinda funny to see how now you grab every opportunity to
post 'snares is the worst shit ever' kinda posts :)

HCCBU is a good choice macbobmc

ive heard 'defluxion' and hated it, and the 'amµnition'
compilation album with many vs tunes...loved 'einstein rosen
bridge' and the rest were enjoyable too...thats all the vs
experience i have till now...

i hope hccbu is my kinda thing...

I know heres how it went:

I didn't like vsnares at first - annoying noisy garbage

I started liking it after forcing it down my own face

I really really liked it because of its aggression and
harshness which was suitable for work (which i hate)

I then realized the melodies were shit on a lot of songs
(like 90% of them)

Then I realized that Aaron released 5 albums a year of the
same crap over and over.

Then I got bored with it and stopped listening

Now I take every chance I get to remind everyone what a
bunch of overated IDM wankery it is.

i'm sorry, but by step 4, it becomes obvious you don't
understand music.

I like different music for different reasons.

Step 4 has to do with the aggression and severity of the
drum programming.

"I then realized the melodies were shit on a lot of songs

I think aaron made this album just to prove you
wrong.
(at least on this one album)

melodies in songs about my cats are awesome complex and
abstract as not many idm produucers ever reached

potentially wasted your money.

I still have it on my comp, I only listened to it once, so
maybe I'll give it another go, but I'm never in the mood for
his style anymore... the whole breakcore thing (and 60% of
planet-µ releases) just turns me off.

planet-mu still releases great psuedo IDM stuff though,
don't let shitty artists like shitmat etc.. turn you off the
label, just ignore the rubbish, they release a lot of
breakcore crap (I'm a fan of breakcore, a big one, and I
reckon planet mu releases a lot of BAD breakcore (vsnares
not included, his melodies suck hard but his drum
programming is top notch, and well constructed))

it's perfectly fine if you hate it or whatever. but let me
point out:

"I then realized the melodies were shit on a lot of songs
(like 90% of them)"

even if this is somehow possible to prove, who says that the
melodies are important in music at all? you could make a
case that pop music isn't pop music without a melody...
we're not talking about that. your expectations are
irrelevant in listening to music - the music is what it is,
you can't put your arbitrary rules upon it. that's
nonsense.

"Then I realized that Aaron released 5 albums a year of the
same crap over and over."

i really can't stand people constantly equating a larger
quantity with less quality. i know your sentence clarifies
this point at the end, but it has the same effect. hasn't
anyone on here heard of improvisational music? that is
basically music that takes exactly the amount of time to
compose as it does to listen to. please go listen to
something other than IDM for its "lush melodies" or whatever
- there are other types of music in this world, believe it
or not!

I'm very informed about 'improv' since I was in jazz band
for 2 years and I still listen to lots of different jazz
including the older big band era stuff.

The 90% is just a number, its a just how I feel about his
melodies. Basically most of them are shit. Thats a relative
statment, and as you know, music is relative.

As for melodies though, no, its not necessary. I didn't say
it was. But I dont usually enjoy songs that rely on
overly-gimmicky muscle-flexing drum programming to carry an
entire song, let alone a whole 5 albums a year. If I wanted
insane drum programming I'd go listen to Squarepusher (which
Vsnares is just a rip off of anyways).

don't get caught up in numbers - i didn't. that wasn't the
point at all.

right, so rock music has been done already, so i think
nobody should ever be allowed to pick up a guitar. if i
wanted rock music, i would listen to the beatles because
everyone else is a ripoff of them...... or wait, didn't the
beatles rip off the folks that came before them but did it
in a slightly different way? yes, i think so. and the
original rock music was a rip off of hank williams? yes,
actually. and williams got it from learning blues music?
hmmm.... music is derivative? you're kidding me! i've
never heard of such a thing! :\

what? I didn't say that either.

Theres a difference between "being influenced" and "ripping
off"

Vsnares sounds like a watered down Squarepusher with more
focus on the drums, IMO

aaron must laugh a lot at how much we discuss about him

its simple... music tastes are only that... a matter of
taste

but one thing is fact: the man makes lots of music for his
fans, he goes on tour everytime and he always satisfies the
audience

I would be proud to go on tour around the world and see how
people from diferent cultures and places shake to my music
