(spam)Best hardware effects units?

I've been relying on computer plugins, a kaos pad, and the
effects units within synthesizers for a while now.

What are the best multi-effect units available for a
reasonable price? I don't really feel like buying separate
units for reverb, delay, chorus etc...I don't have the
money.

I just need this so I can hear the sound I want insantly and
improvise tracks through a unit where I can chain effects.
Doing on PC isn't as immediate and live.

thanks.

Line 6 is good.

Only payed with, never owned. The pod is legendary.

Thanks Taxidermist. Now I'll be able to do live stuff more
interestingly too.

i always thought line 6 sounded like shit
i have digitech, you could also go with tc electronic g
major
(these are guitar effects though)

I see.

Yeah, I am looking for something to run a synth through
where I can chain effects on a unit. I would like it to
sound nice enough, but I can't afford anything very
professional at the moment.

Most software effects are modeled after guitar effects. So
if you want an effect for your synthesizer, then you might
consider going for the guitar effect.

Unless you want to sink 3000 dollars into one of
these.

Thanks. Sorry, I'm not knowledgeable in this area. These
links have been a good help.

However, the 3000 dollar thing would be soooo nice to have.
I wish I had that money to throw around. :)

Well the screenshots, and the fact that BT (who, whether you
like him or not, does create some awesome sounds and has
amazing production values) uses it was enough.

WT OMG F ?

You want synth effects so get a synth effects unit, no need
for guitar effects units, especially Line 6 (very basic,
very boring) and Digitech is poor quality

go here and click the 'Effects Units' link, I
recommend Lexicon and Alesis. This is basically a reference
site, always read the user reviews if they have them check
if its in your price range and blah ebay

my digitech thing was as expensive as that tc electronic
thing though

Lots of the cheaper dj-oriented fx units (Kaoss pad, Alesis
Air FX, etc.) are not much cop for serious studio work.
Nowhere near as good as decent VST fx. I've never used
really expensive hardware FX, so can't comment on them.

Yes. I have bought lots of quality plugins, and some came
with my producer edition of Sonar3 which sound lovely too.
But for live work, and for the sake of some collaborative
stuff I'm doing with someone else (at their studio), I need
some hardware fx so I can just bring my synth there along
with the fx and get to work. Unless there is a way of
running the synth through my laptop with minimal lag...
