Anybody familiar with this legendary ambient label? I have most of their stuff (Woob, Gas, Miasma, Qubism, etc.) and everything has just a special quality to it. Of all the ambient I've ever listened to, em:t ranks near the top of the heap (if not ON TOP).
Tell me something I don't know...
:)

the bloke who runs the label fell into my fireplace on new years day, after doing too much laughing gas and ketamine. does that count?

not sure. it is a guy who boughy the label out a year or two ago, hence the reason it has resurfaced after an extended hibernation.

Woob- sub dub
Some of the best cover art ever which lead to rotten-cunted ex-girlfriends stealing them even though they lacked the capacity to truly apreciate them and just thought the amphibian pic were cute- leaving me with only minidisc copies (that I meticulously scanned and copied high quality labels for) that were also stolen by a drunke housemate.
I haven't received a newsletter from the new em:t proprietor- I assumed they went under...

It is legendary- that catalog represents the pinnacle of ambient music and most of it is over ten years old.

Hey, people responded to my thread. That's very kind. :)
Anyway...
not sure. it is a guy who boughy the label out a year or two ago, hence the reason it has resurfaced after an extended
hibernation.
I think you may mean Matt Hall, who was a big help in getting the em:t name relaunched.
godataloss - Ouch! :(
I haven't received a newsletter from the new em:t proprietor- I assumed they went under...
Nope. They're back, have 2 compilations (0003 and 0004) and 1 album (gelsol 1104 - EXCELLENT!) under their belt, with 302 acid 0005 coming out May 23rd! They are very much in existence.
The old cover arts are truly timeless, especially Woob's 2 lps (That outstretched neck of one of the emperor penguin's caught my eye immediately and the toucan) and gas 0095 (the comb jellyfish).

Well, check the link I provided and hit the listening stream. Find out for yourself.
Holy shit
That's not unusual. em:t releases are highly priced by any collectors with some sense and appreciation of ambient music. $100+ US is not unusual.
