I know i've posted crap about spectrogram thingy, but that
was just about my mixer and I only used analord as an
example because thats what I was recording at the time.

This is different, on most tracks, yes, i can ignore it and
just enjoy it, but when you listen to Laricheard (when i
post it later) i'll find it hard to believe that anyone can
listen to that and not be bugged by the crackling noise that
spews forth from it.

I'm not annoyed by crackling noise because I don't have any.

Not in front of the members please, you'll undermine my
already fragile authority.

sample

okay, check it out. I'm starting to think that my vinyl is
damaged. Its definately not my turntables/needle.

the skipping isn't from the vinyl, i just cut up random
pieces of the song and placed them next to each other.

"example: the end of Crying In Your Face & most of Snivel
Chew"

yup... listening to the records, the last 30 seconds of
Crying is a mess. And Snivel distorts throughout.

I haven't got any sound editing packages on this laptop plus
I just plugged straight into the line in so it could be
improved further.

It's recorded too loud because Sound Recorder appears to
have just ignored the mixer settings, even so there is very
little crackling :P

its called a dirty needle & or a shitty transfer. i have
listened to these songs and yea some of them have a little
too much bottom end, and there are 1 or 2 examples of
clipping/overmodulated tracks. but i also have the MP3's
and whomever converted them did a A+ shitty job doing it.

The needle is decent, I was able to record many many other
analord tracks without any problem.

some of the mp3's are clipped..if ppl care to analyse waves
and boring stuff like that. I woul dbe pretty surprised if
the vinyl's have clipping on them. I thought that shit was
confined to CD's generally.

I analyze every wav of recordings i do, just because its
right there and easy to do in Cool Edit. With this sample, i
could have made it even louder by 2db before it even touches
teh -0db mark. Theres plenty of 'breathing room' in my
recordings. The clipping is comming from a hardware source,
which I deduce is the vinyl.

Listening to yours again I would say it is something other
than the vinyl. One vinyl I would say yes, maybe, but you
are talking about three different vinyls. What you have is
an amplification problem somewhere along the line.

type of mixer&needles i have?

ooh that first sample of laricheard is not right. the prob
is in the stylus... it's either damaged, really dirty, or
not aligned incorrectly.

The clipping I was talking about earlier is mostly minor
stuff.

clipping analogue signal with other analogue signals is not
shaking hands w/ satan. Digital recording has done this to
us.
