If I read one more thing about him wanting to commit
suicide I'm going to puke. He's rich, gets to make music for
a living on incredible gear, women way better looking than
him want to fuck him. He's basically the luckiest nerd on
the planet. He's insulting people w/ real problems. What a
fucking ham.

yeah, there's something disturbing about NIN.

i listened to 'the downward spiral' - this album explores
serious self-loathing and depression. makes me sick to my
stomach. and it makes me even more sick that this is made by
a rich rock star who probably doesn't have problems that
even come close to what he sings about.

money doesn't make your problems go away. in fact, it makes
them harder to ignore.

You turly think that money and groupies makes you a happy,
well-balanced, problem-free person?

Yeah, I thought that people with 'real problems' have
problems for that very reason. It's not a money problem.
Depression as a condition?

it was all a phase for me, teenage depression and confusion
really. no doubt i still have problems with mental illness
but ive surpassed this 'marketing depression' garbage. when
you come to realize its all just a phase you start wondering
why NIN still uses this downer effect. i mean cmon its a
grown man! its all about money, i bet he enjoys talking
about suicide it feeds his self image.

wah, I have too many things and everyone loves me too much.
Wah, I have it all and still I'm so unhappy cause I can't
figure out why I'm unhappy. Wah...big baby. And I speak
from experience. I was in a fucking loony bin last month
cause was manic and clinically depressed. I am completely
apathetic to anyone like Trent moping around begging for
attention for no god damn reason. Let's face it. Depression
is his high fructose corn syrup. He'd have nothing left to
sell. God forbid talent. Whiny prick. Yes, I believe you
need a real problem to be depressed...Let's hear it Trent.
Atleast you can leave your fucking house!

the stupid twat should get down to africa and see 80% people
there dying. he can then fund an orphanage that will give
him a sense of satisfaction whilst realising how lucky he
would be even if he didnt have a cent.

I don't know if Trent is really depressed, but I do know if
I was functioning like he does I would consider myself fully
recovered.

umm... i think yr a bit behind the times there friend...
Reznor doesn't really fixate on that sort of thing
anymore... i mean, i am not 100% certain on this point
because i haven't really listened to the new album much, but
it would appear that he's largely moved onto other things,
and suicide hasn't really been an explicit part of his music
for years... is it still angst-ridden? i'm sure, but i think
we're all entitled to that...

You own the rights to depression!?!! What about you!? You
had a depression!? what do you need, compared to a child in
africa with no parents and aids!?!?! Youre equally spoiled.
Pain is relative my friend. Use your time on someone else,
than hating Trent Reznor.

Hah. If you don't want to read any more about Reznor's
depression I would not reccommend the May 2005 issue of
Spin.

"I was clearly trying to kill myself. I just didn't realize
it."-Reznor

I think that was aimed at me. And anyway the difference is
that I recognise that I am equaly spoiled, and hence my
fortune. He seems proud of the fact that he's depressed etc.
If he's so fed up then why doesn't he just do it?

I couldn't give a fuck about his angst to be honest, I have
enough of my own and other people's that I'm more concerned
about. This is the reason I listen to IDM, and don't watch
Eastenders.

Actually, no it wasnt, i had only read the first couple of
posts, its a coincidence that i did the africa comparison
also.... uncanny!!!

anything not boring :)

What if he produces a kid? That could be worse. Maybe the
reason he hasn't yet is because he has a low sperm count.
That could be why he's so angst ridden.

if you have money, you're not necessarily happier (although
there are a lot of problems you won't have because you have
money, there are so much problems available in life, you're
bound to get some others ^^) - but you have less right to
complain.

i'm not saying this in an ironic way; it seems fair that you
shouldn't complain to those who are in a badder situation
than you, or at least it's roughly how it works no?
