What a classic this is. I just started listening to it for the first time in ages today. It puts me in a weird trance; sure, it is a bit repetitive and "obvious" in places, but I think that adds to the overall effect. It has dated very well, and sounds a lot more lush then lots of new shit I'm hearing.

In Sides is actually my favorite of theirs. Or Snivilization.
But this is still good, in a completely different way.

The best thing about orbital is their knack for building up the music with millions of layers and seamless bridges between tracks.

They just don't make them like this anymore, sadly. Not even Orbital.
I am going to put a tax on the word "lush" though. You're allowed in this instance though as "Lush" is included on the album.

Haha, is there another word to describe that big, nice, warm, sound that the album has? ;)

I had both the Lush singles, and to be honest, all the mixes sound exactly the same. I'll have to listen again though, I'm sure that's not true.

Well, rich, verdant, abundant, juicy, expansive, dense, voluptuous, luxuriant, opulent.... luscious.

the first Lush is more true to orbital's techno roots but the second one is better for people makin the transition from pop to e-music

That's a great single, that's got a very Aphex-y track on it, if I remember.

The second one is bloody great. It sounds really rich, verdant, abundant, juicy, expansive, dense,
voluptuous, luxuriant and opulent. And lush.

Hmmm. "The Middle of Nowhere" isn't that bad at all. I don't know why everyone seems to dislike it; it sounds great fun to me. It's quite silly in places, but I love Orbital's playfullness; I wish more new electronic music had their sense of fun and accessibility.
