So, Tim Hecker, VSnares and Fennesz have Remixed them. What
is the original stuff like?

It's like.. a romantic action comedy starring Bruce Willis
and Kate Winslet called 'Love Hate'.

totally different from Tim Hecker, Venetian Snares and
Fennesz... metal, not electro. they have a concept-album
about drowning called "Oceanic" which is awesome. you might
need some time to get used to the voice of the singer
though.

you can listen to a sample here:
"False Light" | mp3 · mp4

I haven't heard any of the remixes, only 2 albums by Isis
themselves. It's metal, but quite slow. Try and find some
songs off Oceanic, you might be put off by the vocals if
you're not used to them.

you're welcome : )

by the way... if you like the music but don't like the
vocals, try to listen to the seventh track, "Weight". it has
beautiful female vocals instead (and the track is quite
peaceful, beautiful and melancholic).

i've seen them live two or three times. i must say that i
am not too into their music at all. i find them to be quite
boring, in fact. especially when i'm standing in the
audience waiting for their songs to end and falling asleep.
slow music is great - i love neurosis and the melvins, but
those are bands that make it interesting to listen to.
their songwriting is fantastic. isis sounds like one long
yawn to me.

i can't wait to get the remix cd, though.

hmm, i have couple of their albums and they're not that
good..not my thing really, but i thought they'd be different
live..now im not so sure anymore..and the ticket is quite
expensive so i might reconsider this..

i uh - erm... well... i think they sound pretty much the
same as they do on the record only really loud. most people
seem to like them a lot. i'm sorry, i didn't mean to ruin
your concert-going experience. :/

and the times i saw isis play, they were opening and i was
waiting for a different band to play. so maybe i was
impatient because i didn't like the music too much.

you didn't ruin anythig for me really..i didn't like the
albums that much as it is, but i was hoping the live thing
would be different..i'll go i think, but only if someone
invites me :)
