what is that weird sound at 3:28 and again at 3:31, 3:35

when i first heard it in my car it sounded like i hit
something in the back of my car (rear axle)

it's a wack ass sound, pretty cool, but threw me off when i
first heard it.

doesnt sound like it comes from the speaker at all.

it was me! i did it - i wrote a program that sends out those
sounds at those time intervals to all people who listen to
that album. its very complex

Its a kick or a snare quantized very finely.

At 8:15 there is an element in the background that sounds
exactly like the RealTV themesong. I am not trying to be
silly. It sounds just like it; that bubbly sound.

it's an fun track. But the sections don't seem to have
anything to do with eachother (not that this matters....)

oddly enough i noticed this on saturday driving to my
friends house, before driving to see autechre play that
night. i was worried something was wrong with my car and it
would end up breaking and i wouldn't get to the show.

i think it's 3:27 though

on my mp3s it's the times i listed (it happens like 3 times
within 10-15seconds)

crazy huh.

and it only seems to come from my rear speakers, even though
they are playing the same signal??

weird

Expecting Elusive not to come up with classics such as
"Listening to Untilted in another room" and somehow
connecting Ae with a knocking sound in the back of his car
is like hoping that, I don't know, something that always
happens won't happen.

I hear what you're talking about. I had to turn it up kinda
loud to catch it. It sounds like a bass or snare in the
lower ranges, but its panned all the way to the left (or
right, or both?) so it sounds like its comming from outside
the speakers. And yes, because of the way its panned, it
sounds like its almost behind you.

I've listened to it lots of times in the car and I can't
hear what you're talking about to be honest.

That horn stab section of the track is so ridiculous. I love
the last section, however.

hear that?

listening to it in a car may not particularly be how to hear
it.

it's probably just the speakers. i have shit speakers in my
car, lacking bass, too high on the treble.

never noticed it in my room on my speakers which aren't
great, but good. fair levels all around.

Are you talking about the clunk that engages the background
whispery kind of noise? Otherwise I don't really see what
you're talking about.

Its riiight on top of the beat, so you have to listen past
the initial layers of snare/bass what-have-you. Its easier
to notice on headphones... or elusives car...

weird, on my room speakers it just sounds like boomin low
bass hit. And I'm listening to the flac instead of the
320mp3... i think the mp3 compression makes it easier to
hear...

Woooh. Bruiser.

The beginning and end parts to Sublimit are excellent, but I
agree that the parts don't exactly cohere.
I'm sure they played something like that
scraping-bouncing-bassy kind of sound at seone. It's
quality.

For me, recently, Untilted either sounds fucking amazing or
really iritating - no inbetween or stability. Strange.
Perhaps I just haven't given it enough time yet.

strange, ive listened to sublimit at least 50 times now
(best track on untitled if not best ae track EVER) and I
never noticed those sounds untill you mentioned them. they
seem out of place. now i have no idea but could it just be
errors on the mp3 or is it also like this on the actual
album. someone tell me please :)

well i was going to listen until i realized i don't have my
copy on me. what i like about the track is when they do the
breakdown, which is all programmed out on an alesis hr-16B.
i have one too and it's strange to hear the same drum and
snare sounds i've used in similar patterns. i think alot of
this album is drum machines and them playing with the
various sliders and scroll wheels, editing the patch, tempo,
and pitch.

lots of interviewers and fans say the cyberfunk chords/horn
stabs in Sublimit are humorous and intentionally funny. I
think it was 100% serious, whereas the orchestra hits (the
cheesy sample found in lots of 80s rap) are very prominent
and obviously a joke in Augmatic disport. At first i didnt
hear it, but upon further listens i realized what i was
hearing.

I don't know if Ae really do irony, do they? I think any
"old skool" sounds are a reference or an acknowledgement of
the past. I don't think they're meant to be funny in a
"Haha, remember when tracks had that orchestral hit in
them, fucking stooopid
" way, or indeed any other.
