Recording Your Computer

Confusing topic name but I couldnt think of a better way to
put it.

I'm looking for a program that will allow me to record the
master output of my soundcard.

For example, I want to sample one of the porn movies from my
collection, or a funny video online. What program will allow
me to record just the audio?

well, on a Creative card, you'll have the "Wave", "Master"
or "What You Hear" if you click on your sound-icon in the
taskbar....

you aren't using mac right?

to say it in another way: it doesn't require anything else
than a wav-recorder app

you'll need a mixer. plug the output to one of the channels,
then send it to the input of your soundcard.

if you use acid, you can just put the movie file in there,
and the soundtrack will be on a separate strip. then just
delete the movie-strip and save the sound.

I found that if you can just drop and mpg or avi (wmv is a
no-go) into iTunes and export the audio to wav or aiff.
Atleast it works on a mac.

Unfortunately, I do not have a mixer nor do I use acid or
have a soundblaster sound card.

Its not just movies I want to record. I just used it as an
example.

Any other ideas?

a jack -> jack line
mute the line-in output on that mixer in windows
the jack -> jack in line out -> line in
press record in your recording program of choice
press play on whatever you want to record

Too technical, not all of us have a degree in technical
drawing. What is that stuff on the white?

Open the volume control thing from the start menu. Usually
Start>>Programs>>Accessories>>Entertainment>>Volume
Control.

Click on Options, then choose Properties, click the option
button for Recording then make sure you have the stereo
mixer ticked at the bottom and click OK. Then underneath
the slider you will see it has Select, make sure that is
ticked (for stereo mixer). Now when you record in your
music app it will record whatever sound is going through the
computer speakers at the time.

it's in the wrong place though. the pen0r should go into the
line in output.

It has to be grounded though. Safety first, high risk of
electrocution.

Buying my m-audio revolution was the biggest mistake of my
life. It has made recording the output of my pc near
impossible. even microphone recording is a task to be
reckoned with!
