Porcupine Tree

Is anybody here a fan of theirs?

I normally dislike more rocky guitar-based music, but
Popucpine Tree's stuff is a rare exception. Their last two,
In Absentia and Deadwing, have been especially epic and
brilliant....I reckon it's the brilliant songwriting,
atmospherics, and production of Steve Wilkinson that makes
all the difference.

I also love Dream Theater. Sometimes, I need some wanky
super fast virtuoso playing and over-ambitious operatic
stuff to entertain me. It's not a bad thing, imo-I love
listening to it when I'm in the mood.

I saw dream theater live a couple weeks ago. The sound was
terrible: muddy, overly bassy (but with no definition of the
bass notes) and TOO loud. I talked to someone who had seen
them before and he said they normally sounded better. The
problem I have is that I only like a specific few songs by
them and they didn't really play any of them, not that it
would have mattered if they did since I couldn't hear shit
(besides a wall of sound).
