techno is much more "alive" than idm is... how do you even
come to this conclusion? techno has been very very healthy
for several years now...

offline obara from Utrecht on 2005-05-01 13:48 [#01582504]

examples please, since the name "techno" is a very broad
term...

oh, i mean techno in the very unbroad sense (as in Techno
the genre of electronic music...the music of Jeff Mills,
Carl Craig, Derrick May, Basic Channel, Plastikman, etc.).
i'm talking mostly now, about Germany, and labels like
Kompakt, who have been thriving on the Schaffel sound...
Tresor, Perlon, Playhouse, Ghostly, DFA... there's tonnes of
it out there right now...

techno as in gay strip club techno. is only popular with
runway models and some goth kidz fresh into high school.
dont worry about it and get into IDM.

true. but most techno is like that. pulsating 707 bd, that
dusty snare from the 808, and those little tiny chinky
cymbals.

like

i'm not really sure how i'd categorize underworld...
certainly they have techno-esque qualities to them... in any
case, they are sweet... do they have new stuff coming soon?

and swift_jams doesn't know what he's talking about.
