as much as ive grown to enjoy mid to late autechre, there
still a few tracks i can't enjoy, no matter what. Its those
metallic sounding tracks on lp5 & ep7. If you know what
tracks im referring to, tell me what you think of them.

acroyear2 is pretty metallic-sounding.

i like its complexity.

Actually I love everything on LP5, make a bit of a mistake.
It's ep7 really, and these tracks:

squeller
left blank
outpt
liccflii

also, i put 'the trees' on this list too. My ears just dont
enjoy it..

lp5 has some great tracks, really.
ep7 sounds like a few ideas and a lot of filler to me.

I thought autechre's first cd was Draft 7.30, eh ?

ep7 is ok, but it never really clicks with me. it's like i
know the tunes but i don't. you know?

Actually, I really love outpt and liccflii. Ep7 is my
favorite autechre... followed closely by cichli suite...

I think its the first album they did where the ideas were
really grondbreaking, and they seemed to manage to express
most of them. its also one of the only albums that has songs
that actually develope.

ep7 is fantastic. i think it has some of their best songs
to date (namely dropp and pir) OH MY GOD THEY ARE SO GOOD

I like how LP5 sounds really clean and EP7 sounds really
dirty. Shine vs grime. I haven't listened to either in a
long time but I'm saving them for a bad music day, they'll
salvage it and blow me away.

I agree, theres a few tracks on EP7 that blend together into
one in my memory. I think its the ones you mentioned, Gwely
Mernans.

I actually like the music when I'm listening to it, but the
tracks dont stay in my memory for some strange reason.
Theres a track where pretty much nothing seems to develop
for ages.

acroyear2 > 777 > rae is probably one of my favorite trios
of songs. just stunning.

ep7 sounds like it was just made by a computer in a bad way.
It sounds very generated and not very composed or structured
to my ears, although I am sure they worked at it like any
other album.

I don't get the love for Maphive 6.1 either. It sounds like
a two year old made that piano melody.

computer in a bad way. :)

lp5 is my favourite Autechre album but i am not really in to
Autechre beacause of there songs dont change so much and are
to long.so i guess lp5 is there most appealing album for an
none Autechre fan.at least for me

Even if I find the music a bit dull, the album artwork for
ep7 is stunning.

They said in an interview recently - someone posted a link
here - that the stuff on ep7 is all different periods of
work, not from one single production run, which is why it's
so varied. It gives you a sense of how much experimentation
they've done on the lowest levels of song structure and
arrangement. No two tracks sound like they were produced by
the same two people, or even by the same species.
:D

It's my favorite ae, followed by lp5 and cichlisuite. I hear
them getting back to that sound a bit in untilted.

chiastic - untilted is gold for me

pre chiastic with some exceptions on tri repetae (++) is not
gold

do you mean all of tri rep is gold or not?

i guess what i meant to say was i love most of tri rep ++
through untilted, and most of their stuff before that i dont
really care for
