[ae] shit quality vinyl

why can't ae put out decent quality vinyl?

i hear all the time in their interviews how they think mp3
is worthless, shite quality, etc...

yet every vinyl (now untilted) i get of theirs is flimsy as
cardboard.

very, VERY unimpressed with the weight of the untilted
vinyl.

not happy at all.

the artwork on the otherhand, a++

I hate it because If I want the vinyl I will have to wait
until later next month. If I want the cd I can go down to
the shop and buy it.

Oh but I would love to have it on vinyl... but.
Fuck it. Im going to buy the cd. If I want the vinyl
sometime down the road I will get it then.

I cant believe I havent heard the damn album yet. Off I go
to buy the cd.

how's it cut then? every lp/12 doesn't have to be supercrazy
grade a+ 180tons to sound good, you know.

I like vinyl where the edges are kinda square, and not the
ones that are like sawblades. Thats from an ergonomic
standpoint, mind you.

oh it sounds lovely, no doubt about that.
yeah i take that back about draft,

untilted is just, i was all excited...ripped open the
packaging, the vinyl flopped out, and i grabbed it and it
felt so flimsy, it was kind of a let-down

sigh, oh well ....

i don't think i'm going to buy this. maybe the vinyl. is
there any additional artwork in the lp? i remember reading
the cd was mostly just a grey interior.

but it's just

meh

...so flimsy...pisses me off

hmmm. example: saw 85-92, donkey rhubarb, abb3, iss:sa,
abpoitc, hi scores, twoism lp's are all flimsy but sound
great... though the 150+ weights are nice. draft is a nice
weight, too bad untilted isn't.

dude, did you ever had any brasilian records/pressings in
your hands? WORST VINYL EVER. you seriously can almost bend
the two sides to eachother (you know...close it)

hah,

yeah i like the heavier vinyl, seems like it would be in
better shape 5-10ysr down the road

also to further protect from warping...

jeezous, cunt....read the thread

How gay is this? My bank will let me cash any american
cheque over the counter no questions asked, but if I
directly deposit the check into my account via the teller,
it takes 25 motherfucking days before I can touch it. Thats
is the reason I could not buy Untilted today.

offline nacmat on 2005-04-21 11:34 [#01572088]

if the music is good and the sound quality is good... then
which is the problem?

offline elusive from detroit (United States) on 2005-04-21 11:37 [#01572090]
Points: 18368 Status: Lurker | Show recordbag

the vinyl is cheap quality ...

i dont like the feel of it ... it's thin, and my main
concern is how long it will last.

you know, thinner vinyl tends to warp easier, right?

im talking about down the road.

you would think people like autechre would make sure their
music goes out on quality vinyl.

....that's all im saying/

bent.

aha. oh.

all the autechre i have on vinyl is pretty thick; tri
repetae, chiastic slide, draft

If you take care of your discs, there's hardly a chance of
them getting warped or fucked in any other way, thick or
thin. I mean I've got 2nd hand stuff from the 70s and
they're not warped.

Keep them out of the sun and kiss them goodnight, and you'll
have them for a long time.

if you're that bothered about the quality of sound, buy the
fucking cd!

for the last fucking time,
im not talking about the QUALITY OF THE SOUND, im talking
about the QUALITY OF THE PHYSICAL VINYL RECORD.

my intent of this thread was that ae always talk about how
everything they do is quality ,,,, they hate mp3s ,,, etc on
and on, yet when it cmoes to physical stuff, their quality
is lacking.

there is NO PROBLEM with the sound (duh) ... stop saying
that.

vinyl is made to last ... i want something to give to my
children one day, kinda like my pops is now ... thicker
vinyl could last longer and less prone to warping.

it's just preference, but damn ... after going to 180g+
vinyl it's kinda hard to go back and take all the other shit
seriously.

hope you cansee where im coming from
im not all pissed off about it but damn, would have bene
nice to have some heavier weight

i understand completely how you feel about the quality.
after having 180g+ vinyl, it *is* quite difficult having
anything else.

i reckon i'll just purchase the cd.

yeah I agree with you. there is something about 180 vinyl
that brings tears of joy into my eyes

yeah, i can't justify buying cds anymore.

hard to explain, but only if the production and packaging is
good (i.e. the hafler trio/ae release, wow)

i like buying vinyl though ...

you'll be happy with the cd, but personally id buy the vinyl
and download a flac rip of untilted from the cd and burn
that.
