excuse me for being ignorant but how does one actually go
about pulling off a live laptop dj mix set?

please don't say that everyone uses Traktor... please...

vinyl died years ago. stuff like ableton is the future for
dj-ing. live bands are gonna be extinct soon too cuz you can
do so fucking much on software now. who wants to listen to a
slack drummer when you can get the tightness of a beat to
perfection onstage with wares. it's just evolution.

well, I myself enjoy the human aspect of music. so not
everyone wants theyr music to sound like
cutandpastesupermasteredProTools shit. But for DJing Ableton
is the shit!

really now, there will never be a substitute for a good live
band. there tends to be a bit more energy when people are
actually doing something on stage as opposed to jacking off
behind their laptops.

I don't totally agree but there is nearly always something
missing in just laptop shows. Maybe it is the fact people
like to watch instead of getting down to the music. Which
leads on to the question of image, blah, blah, blah.

if you mix hardcore gabba then i dont think it makes a
difference. but if you mix jazzy house or high high
production stuff, then the crowd might be a bit reluctant.

Anyway its all about progression. i use both tracktor and
Live (but i cant run at the same time with my M-audios ASIO
drivers, any suggestions?) I sometimes have traktor running
on windows DirectX drivers, then cubase running as well. Put
my outputs into the inputs and viola! i have a fucking huge
amount i can do with the music playing (even thought it
stutters sometimes), without any hhhaaarrddwaaareee
*shudders
