if you're interested, here's

it'll suck

offline CS2x from London (United Kingdom) on 2005-04-17 10:26 [#01568192]
Points: 5079 Status: Lurker

thanks.

In their 100 greatest music videos Chris Cunningham's films
were featured, which is cool.

your avatar looks like something out of a little big
adventure.

not such a cool list...

Hahaha, The Darkness.

i've seen some bad 'best of' lists. this one is obviously
not from the US, or it would have nirvana and more hip hop
on it.

offline tridenti from Milano (Italy) on 2005-04-17 10:59 [#01568223]
Points: 14653 Status: Lurker

i'm interested for:
Bjork - Debut (1993)
The Chemical Brothers - Dig Your Own Hole (1997)

it's got 50% sort of Rolling Stone guaranteed unsurprising
material, but the rest 50% is really dismal by any
standards...

I mean: Moby's Play?? Robbie fucking Williams??

nyah, eat shit

offline dog_belch from Netherlands, The on 2005-04-17 11:26 [#01568251]
Points: 15098 Status: Addict | Show recordbag

On these 100 greatest lists or whatever they really should
have a limit on an album being at least 5 years old, becuase
otherwise they get faddish albums in them like The Darkness,
Dizee Rascal, Libertines, Norah Jones, Scissor Sisters, The
Streets and The Strokes which you can guarantee won't turn
up in any "100 Greatest Albums" in 5 years time.

Scissor Sisters and Dizze Shitbag are both in there? What a
steaming pile of fucking awfulness

offline Skeptopotamus from Home (United Kingdom) on 2005-04-17 11:33 [#01568264]

Fat of the Land seems to be in there too. Did they mixup the
nominations with channel fives "100 worst albums ever"?
That's the only explination I can think of.

you're wrong about the scissor sisters. it will appear in
EVERY 100 greatest albums list from now on until the end of
time.

I haven't heard it to be honest, I was just going by the
single which sounds like Robbie Williams, except he'd never
sing it because it doesn't deal with the pain and anguish of
being famous.

fat of the land is a weird one though. perhaps some video
footage of smack my bitch up has already been used on some
other top 100 channel 4 program and they don't have to pay
repeat fees.

I will give it a go, my blinkered, myopic pop sense isn't
always correct so I am prepared to be wrong about these
Sisters of yours.

clip of either paul rutherford or brain nash moaning that
trevor horn got all their money :)

closely followed by phil oakey boasting about how he shagged
both the backing singers

"doolittle"..? why would they choose "doolittle"..?

surely "surfer rosa" would've been a better choice.

offline earthleakage from tell the world you're winning on 2005-04-17 12:38 [#01568333]

yeah there are a few anomalles. i never understood the
popularity of "who's next". as a fan i'd put it near the
bottom. tommy & quadrophenia are unarguably epics, even sell
out & a quick one are better.

offline deepspace9mm from filth on 2005-04-17 12:45 [#01568335]

I think the biggest anomaly is the inclusion of alanis
morisette in a program purporting to be about music.

What's the point of this program? Do we get to ring in for
who we'd like kicked out of the music business or
something?

So many choices...

Fatboy Slim - You've Come a Long Way, Baby (1998)
In the States, many assumed the fat boy on the sleeve was
actually Fatboy himself. It seemed wherever you listened,
Fatboy's anthems were being played on the radio, TV and DJ
decks all across the country

i've got this album, good!

thoughts: it's fun to bash... and well, merited too... but
you make one... it's fucking tough... also: i'm sort of glad
they have some more surprising albums on their (as opposed
to all rollingstone choices) because, regardless of whether
or not they are shit, that's how these lists become less
homogenized... cause fuck... they are usually way fuckin'
boring... looking at it... about a third of the choices are
somewhat respectable... but then there is the Eagles... and
Dido...

Maybe 125 nominations to choose the top 10 or something.
That's just ridiculous.
