The Madcap Laughs.......sort of a genius, much better than
the later more famous pretentious Pink Floyd

I haven't heard much solo Syd, but I've meaning to for
ages... I've heard Effervescing Elephant and a few others...
it's weird. It's charming in its own strange way, but I love
Gilmour so much... they're fucking pretentious, but they're
so GOOD!!!

Pink Floyd are awesome... Echoes is probably the pinnacle
for me... 23 minutes of rock, funk, ambience, and then an
excellent climax and resolution... brilliant!!!!

ya i love pink floyd too.. although i admit they are pretty
pretentious...
although, i think most of taht came from that asshole roger
waters...

i love so many of their albums its hard to pick favs... and
david gilmour is probably my favourite guitarist (if i had
to choose one).. i love the tone he gets on his guitar..
even if his work isn't as technically advanced as some other
more respected guitarists his solos are so stirring its
terrific.. especially on "confortably numb".. best guitar
solo ever!

oh yeah, back to the topic:

yes i agree that early psychodelic shit w/ barrett is
excellent.. it this quality to it..
sort of more honest sounding.. and definitly more modest
especially his childish lyrics and melodies

though i'm not the biggest roger waters fan ... and there
was a point in my pink floyd fandom that i down right hated
him, he put on an incredible concert about a year or so ago.
played a bunch of great songs from animals, wish you were
here, the wall, and (of course) dark side.
